Invincibles Studio’s football management game, Soccer Manager 2024 recently got a launch worldwide, and players have already begun to build their teams and take them to glory. Catering to the widespread football fanbase who love management games, the new season has arrived with plenty of new features that the players can enjoy. However, amidst the plethora of mixed opinions surrounding the new game, many players are eager to determine if it’s truly worth playing. The gameplay gets a slight yet unnoticeable improvement

Soccer Manager 2024 takes you on the role of a coach or manager of a football team. What makes it enjoyable is its distinct focus on management, with fewer matches to oversee. When it comes to football management games, it’s hard to think of another title quite like it, perhaps with Football Manager being the only comparable game in the same league, which is a better one surely.

In terms of gameplay, it’s worth noting that there are some noticeable improvements scattered here and there, but I couldn’t find anything very attractive. Gamemodes were never a thing in a management game. Having multiple career saves is pretty nice, both Create a Club and Career would keep the fun balanced. However, it’s only fair to admit there’s a bit of a letdown in the visual presentation of matches. It’s like a bit of a dud in an otherwise decent game.

Decent graphics but energetic music is a big plus

You know, when it comes to football management games, let’s be honest, fancy graphics usually aren’t their strong suit. I mean, who even expects that, right? However, Soccer Manager 2024 did pleasantly up their game and did a pretty decent job with the graphics and overall presentation. To some extent, they’ve managed to make it look quite good.

Well, here’s a topic that might spark a debate, but I’ve got to say, I’m really vibing with this season’s music. It’s a whole lot better, with those thumping, energetic beats that really pump you up to dive into a few more games for your club. So, again, another box ticked.

The UI has been a great implementation

The UI in Soccer Manager 2024 represents a refreshing shift in design. Many players, myself included, were not particularly fond of the previous iterations’ light blue and brighter UI. The introduction of a darker shade of purple as the theme for the UI is a welcome change. The transition between various menus has significantly improved, and the redesigned home menu is a definite positive aspect. It appears less cluttered and you can actually see important stuff floating around, which contributes to an overall more enjoyable experience of managing your club. This is quite well-executed, and it’s probably best not to mess with it unless they come up with a more polished UI design.

There is a good bit of realism apart from the obvious cash-grab

I don’t have any complaints about this aspect because football management games typically maintain a streamlined approach, and honestly, that’s a good thing. Realism is well-maintained, the transfer market offers and player values are reasonable, and you function like a club’s supposed to in real life. I’ll not discuss training and scouting stuff, because it depends on the game wants to implement it, and I feel it has been done better.

Now, given that I wrote a positive paragraph above, you can’t help but notice the cash-grab element I mentioned in the header. Well, that is because you might miss out on your dream signings if you don’t get gold, which, you know, requires you to part with some real money. While shortcuts may not be your thing, it’s kind of like having a major ownership stake in real-life clubs with a money influx.

A little spoilt with some lazy ads here and there

Talking about in-app purchases, yes there are, where you have the option to get gold and cash for getting hands on the top players, which you eventually can if you are managing a big club. But here’s the kicker, and it’s a bit of a bummer, the ads. They were never my jam, and they still aren’t, and even though there aren’t many here, the five-second unskippable part makes me wait for an eternity. So, consider it a bit of a downside in an otherwise good game.

Whew, we’ve made it to the final stretch! Let me sum it up for you straight: the game’s solid. Yes, it doesn’t change much from the previous version, but I think they already have what’s necessary in store. There might be a few letdowns here and there, but all in all, it’s an experience that football fans should definitely give a shot.
