Wolves Esports, a part of English Premier League football club Wolverhampton Wanderers is joining China’s King Pro League (KPL). They become the first football club to enter the Honor of Kings’ professional esports league for Arena of Valor.
Wolves announced the acquisition of QGhappy on their website. Following the acquisition of QGhappy by Fosun Sports, the parent company of Wolves, the team will rename itself to Chongqing Wolves.
Not the first time into esports for Fosun Sports
This is not the first time Fosun is entering the esports scene. The company is involved in the esports gaming industry since 2018 when they announced FIFA, Rocket League, and racing teams in the UK. The acquisition of joining the KPL is a part of Fosun Sports’ global esports layout, with Wolves Esports being one of the earliest esports clubs in the Premier League.

QGhappy is one of the most successful teams in the Honor of Kings esports scenario. Being founded in 2017, the team has won three KPL tournaments; Spring, Autumn, and Champions Cup in a single year. The team was also the first team to win all four Honor of Kings World Champions Cups in 2021.
KPL’s Honor of Kings will be renamed to Arena of Valor World Cup from next year
King Pro League (KPL) features Honor of Kings teams to fight for an insane $2.9 million prize pool. The upcoming fall 2021 season is the 11th season of King Pro League, the highest league tournament of Honor of Kings. This will be the last ever Fall season, because, after this fall, the second yearly season will be changed from Fall to Summer from 2022 onwards, as a result of the introduction of the brand new Arena of Valor World Cup 2022 format where teams will fight with a mixture of heroes from both the Honor of Kings and the Arena of Valor.
