The Free Fire Esports scene in the 2023 competitive year is approaching its end. Thus, before the year finale event of the Free Fire esports, Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2023, the major regional leagues are on the run to close their events. So that, the FFWS can select all the participating teams. Vietnam is no exception, and the fifth season of the professional Vietnam Free Fire League (VFL) Summer 2023 will kick off soon.
In the VFL Summer 2023, the top 12 teams of the Free Fire Esports arena of Vietnam will fight for two slots in the upcoming FFWS 2023. After the four weeks of league battles and the grand finals, the event will determine the teams that will represent the region at the international level. The offline event will take place at the Free Fire Studio in Hồ Chí Minh City.
VFL Summer 2023: Schedule and Format
The event will be held in two phases, namely the league and the grand finals. The league stage will held for four consecutive weeks and each week will have three matchdays. Based on the league week’s play, headstart points will be allocated to the teams in the grand finals.
All the 12 participants will move to the grand finals. The League stage has little significance in the overall event except for the headstart points and a fixed amount of money for each week’s “Team of the Week“, it will not impact the teams severely.
After the completion of the league weeks, the teams will move to the grand finals. From the 13th of October 2023, the grand finals will kick off and will end on the 15th. A total of 18 matches will be held across three days. After the final day of the event, the two teams with the highest points will qualify for the World Series.
Participating Teams
The event will feature a total of 12 teams from Vietnam. Half of the teams are from the Spring 2023 season while the rest are from the Promotion Series. The teams are as follows.

The VFL Summer 2023 will feature a whopping 1,870,000,000₫ VND (almost $78,000) as the prize pool.
