Nexon’s subsidiary, Nat Games is working on a new MMORPG based on Durango: Wild Lands titled Project DX for now. Nat Games is also recruiting new staff that will be working under its DX Studio to develop the Durango-like MMORPG. Why Durango: Wild Lands permanently shut down
Durango: Wild Lands was one of the most anticipated MMORPG starting out as a Beta version in 2016. It captivated quite a lot of players but after finally launching in January 2018, it failed to garner the massive success it hoped for.
In late 2019, it came as a shock to the fans and players when Nexon announced the permanent shutdown of the game’s servers.
With over 12 million downloads in 229 countries, Nexon gave no apparent reason for their action on Durango. But the 12 million users were not active players or didn’t want to spend real money in the game.
The Beta period took a long time to release and could also be a probable reason for its discontinuity from players. Also, users who pre-registered may have discovered similar games while waiting for Durango and got caught up playing them. If you are curious, you can read the detailed info on why Durango was shut down.
Durango like Project DX could be the game that fans have been waiting for
Durango: Wild Lands was a unique mobile game that had huge potential and while it’s too late for players to get their hands on it now, the upcoming Project DX will make up for the flopped Durango release.
From what is gathered from the recent job posting, Project DX is an MMORPG that will be based on Durango: Wild Lands’ very own IP. The upcoming game will also launch worldwide as the job description requirements stated an experience in developing for a global environment as one of the criteria.
