Valorant is one of the most popular multiplayer tactical-shooter games in the world currently. Already established as a top esports game, the Riot Games‘ release has seen a lot of success, apart from its very popular League of Legends. Having released just 3-4 years back, the PC title has already announced a mobile port soon, scheduled to release sooner than later. With Chinese fans already able to try out Valorant Mobile closed beta in China which was released this month, here are the first impressions from someone who has been playing the PC version since its launch.

After its initial announcement was made on June 2021, we have seen glimpses of gameplay screenshots that were circulated on the internet. Now more videos are floating on the internet and showing clips of tutorial, gameplay, and more. The gameplay is in Chinese, but that hasn’t stopped us from analyzing the bits and pieces of the game.

Valorant Mobile China Closed Beta animations look as good as it can be on a handheld device on its first impressions

The initial cinematics looks similar to the initial Valorant trailer which did release with the PC release a few years back. We see a source of energy that our beloved Valorant agents have to protect for the good of the world, and it reveals most of the older agents Jett, Brimstone, Reyna, Phoenix along with relatively newer faces of Yoru, Skye, which were released on the PC version later. Overall, the opening cinematic looks sick and promises a lot more agents on release, compared to its PC counterpart on release.

This cinematic trailer leads us to the tutorial screen where we see the fan-favourite Jett, providing tips to the newbie who has just now installed Valorant. The voice commentary and the voicelines for agents are in Chinese, for the time being.

Giving a proper walkthrough on the tutorial screen, players would learn about gunplay mechanics, abilities usage and more. Once we are into the main menu, we will see short clips for each of the agent’s abilities explained through short clips, which are not available on the PC version. Players can select their favourite layout (two-finger or three-finger) for the game, which would suit them and change the buttons, if required, in further settings.

The developers can work more on game mechanics and optimizations

Once the real game kicks in with players around the map, we see Sage guiding the new player to the basics of spike-planting, sites, and how to buy guns from the buy menu. The new player plays out the character of Sova, who uses recon to search out players on the map and can send Owl Drone to scan out close corners and locations.

The Hunter’s Fury is also used by Sova to apply some damage to the revealed players hiding in corners. The abilities look good on play here, but the developers should factor in how the screen would look when multiple abilities from different agents are played at the same time, which is a common game mechanic in PC Valorant.

The gunplay mechanics look a bit mediocre for players, which was a bit of concern to players in earlier gameplay clips too. This is nothing but the basic gun mechanic, of why the first-person shooter doesn’t particularly look good on a touchscreen. The controls on a physical controller or mouse involve a lot of clicks and dragging motions, which don’t translate directly to a digital touchscreen. This, along with so many abilities for each agent on the screen makes the game screen look clumsy.

Although, this has nothing to do with the developers, who have made a good effort for now, by properly porting the ability mechanics which look good on mobile. In my opinion, the gunplay mechanics should be rethought, where the sprays and taps from the guns should feel different.

The movement is one more area that looks decent though. Although, this is a product that is still in development, and Riot Games have said that they won’t release the game until it feels good on mobile. Rest assured, we are in the best hands to expect a good game from Riot Games.

Final Thoughts

The graphics and UI look cool and simpler, and most of the work which Riot Games’ have put into the game for abilities mechanics is commendable enough. The game has also introduced a number of famous skin lines such as Elderflame, Blastx, Ruination, and Singularity which are available in the game store.

Already introducing a lot of features, the developers have a lot of time to perfect their game, and will surely put sincere efforts into it. At this moment, Valorant Mobile still looks a year or two away from a global launch and undoubtedly Valorant fans are super excited to try out the game in the palm of their hands.

Valorant Mobile has been a curious case ever since its announcement. Despite being in active development for over two years, the game is yet to give us a major announcement apart from the titbits of its gameplay. The recent interview from Riot Games officials has confirmed that the development progress is going great, but Valorant Mobile will not come out until it feels amazing on mobile and their main focus is to do the same.

Valorant Mobile is making great progress which has been challenging but fun

Whalen Rozelle, Chief Operating Officer, Esports at Riot Games, and Anna Donlon, Senior Vice President and Executive Producer for Valorant sat with Esports Inquirer to discuss about the international events, fan reactions, and Valorant updates. A small segment was about the upcoming action title, which was promising but not so helpful for those waiting for an update.

They quoted: “I think people are really hungry for an update on VAL Mobile. We have not given one and weā€™re very consciously not giving an update right now because I think as soon as we do, players are going to start wanting to know when itā€™s going to launch and all that.”

Image via Riot Games

They added that development team’s primary focus at the moment is to ensure that they create a highly satisfying and enjoyable mobile version of Valorant. The game will not get a launch until and unless the game is satisfying to play on mobile while looking amazing on all aspects. Currently, there has been a challenging yet fun environment in terms of development, which is going great according to them.

Regarding updates, the team plans to reveal more information about the potential release and launch date of Valorant Mobile in the future. Until then, there might not be major announcements. However, they are well aware of the opportunity to cater to Valorant players in regions where the mobile platform could better serve better than PC, but before that, they plan to make sure is the game is a good one.

There were concerns of slowed development of Valorant Mobile earlier this year

The recent interview provides a glimmer of hope that Valorant Mobile may not only be released soon but also offer an excellent mobile gaming experience. However, it’s worth noting that earlier this year in January, there were concerns about the development progress of the game, which seemed to have experienced a slower pace.

This was really disappointing to hear since it was nearly two years since Riot Games made theĀ announcement of the Valorant mobile game back in June 2021. The recent interview does give the fans a glimmer of hope to see the game launch soon.

Valorant Mobile is one of the most anticipated games that was slated to release on mobile devices this year. Coming from Riot Games and being the mobile version of one of the most praised first-person shooter games that the world has seen in the previous few years, Valorant Mobile is one of the most anticipated mobile games of all time. After a long time, Riot Games’ Executive Producer has stated that Valorant Mobile might still take some time to come out, as its development is going slower than what Riot Games anticipated.

Valorant Mobile has been the subject of several leaks and footage that have been making the rounds on the internet for a considerable amount of time. However, there has been no confirmation about when the game will really be released. Finally, Ana Donlon, Executive Producer of Valorant, recently shared that the production of the game was moving at a pace that was slower than what was anticipated.

Riot Games is taking time for the development of Valorant Mobile to get things right

Back in June of 2021, Riot Games made the announcement that they will be releasing Valorant Mobile. The video game has also been play-tested in China at the beta stage. Other leaks suggested that Valorant Mobile was apparently already active in the Private Beta stage, but only for a limited number of users. Since then, the gaming community has not received any official information on the development of the game from the creators, despite all of the rumours and leaks that have been circulating.

Riot Games has finally released some details on the mobile version of Valorant after keeping fans waiting for quite some time. Ana Donlon, the Executive Producer of Valorant, recently shared some facts on the progress of development of the game in the most recent version of the “Dev Diaries” series that was published on the official YouTube channel of Valorant. She said, “We are continuing our work to bring Valorant to new platforms. It’s going slower than we’d hoped. Probably slower than you’d hoped, but we want to get it right.

Despite the fact that this statement does not provide us with any new information on the launch date of the game. Players have every right to have high hopes that Riot Games will bring Valorant Mobile to market, before the end of this year. Nonetheless, players can only wait longer to receive solid updates from Riot Games about the release of the much-anticipated title.

What are your thoughts on Ana Donlon’s statement regarding Valorant Mobile, saying that its development is going slower than usual? Let us know in the comments below!

Earlier this year, NetEase‘s Hyper Front blew onto the mobile gaming scene, making quite some noise as many considered it to be a mobile version of Valorant, since it very obviously pretty much-cloned Riotā€™s popular tactical shooter. And now, Riot Games has taken notice of this and filed cases in the United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil, and Singapore for violation of copyright and has sued Hyper Front.

Riot wants Hyper Front to be taken down and seeks ā€œsubstantialā€ damages

Riot has decided to file the complaint in various courts around the world in order to ensure that the game is completely taken down in their 162-page legal document, they pointed out several similarities between the two titles and in a statement issued to Polygon by Riot Gamesā€™ Lawyer Dan Nabel says ā€œAll of our creative choices are mirrored in NetEaseā€™s game. We donā€™t think that changing the color of a character ability or slightly modifying the visual appearance changes the fact that itā€™s copyright infringement. Itā€™s like that old saying, ā€˜You can put lipstick on a pig, but itā€™s still a pig.ā€

Riot, NetEase, Valorant, Hyper Front
Image via Riot Games

NetEase has had a history of making games with a close likeness to other titles, with another example being Lost Light, a game that many considered a copy of Escape from Tarkov, and with Valorant Mobile being in the works and gearing up to be shown off to the public, this wasnā€™t unexpected. Nabel added to his statement, saying ā€œWe donā€™t want to rely on one particular market to have this issue resolved. NetEase is a global publisher, as are we. We want them to know that we take the matter very seriously.ā€

Considering just how extensively NetEase copied Valorant, the chances of the game being taken down are quite probable. Riot is also looking for damages. Although this isn’t the first time, a mobile game was accused of copyright infringement with Area F2 being sued for a similar crime and ultimately shut down by Ubisoft due to its likeness and similarity to Rainbow Six Siege

Valorant Mobile, Riot Gamesā€™ official mobile port of Valorant, the popular 5v5 tactical shooter, is reportedly being tested on a wide range of iOS devices, as the game inches closer to releasing for mobile gamers worldwide to enjoy. This announcement is pertaining to some leaks from the game’s code, which have been revealed on Twitter.

Valorant Mobile: Post Android testing, developers are looking towards iOS devices

It makes a lot of sense for the developers of the game to move onto iOS now, as weā€™ve seen quite a bit of development on Android devices so far with a private Google Play beta, which took place earlier last month. These new updates were provided by @valohabercisi1, a dataminer who found out that the game was being optimized for devices ranging from the iPhone 5s to the latest-gen iPads.Ā

There hasnā€™t been much official communication from Riot Gamesā€™ end, so everyone might not be completely sure of what stage of development, the game is undergoing. However, the developers have seen some leaked footage a while ago from the closed-off Chinese beta, which was pretty good-looking, to say the least. It had all the players hyped up for the title.

Final Thoughts

For those who havenā€™t been keeping up, Valorant Mobile, the mobile port of Valorant, the popular PC tactical shooter, was announced last year. It is one among the wave of AAA games set to come out on mobile. The game will be a heavy competitor to the likes of Rainbow Six Mobile and Warzone Mobile

That being said, these are pretty interesting new developments. We will hopefully hear more about the game soon from Riot Games themselves. There is still no official release date for the game, but it wouldnā€™t be too far-fetched to believe that we are looking at a 2023 release for this title too.Ā

Some fresh news has now arrived in the mobile FPS sphere and itā€™s regarding Valorant Mobile. Valorant is one of the handfuls of AAA titles heading to mobile. It seems like Riot Games might be working on making the game accessible to selected players as the game now has a Google Play Store page. It is assumed that the private beta of Valorant Mobile is reportedly live.

Although it seems to be closed off right now and weā€™ve not received any official announcement regarding this yet.

Riot Games is keeping current status of Valorant Mobile under covers

Now the page isnā€™t up globally. Instead, for some weird reason, parental controls have to be enabled at PEGI 7. And then players can use this link to access the page for the game. According to Leakers On Duty, the build is a work-in-progress prototype. Those invited to play are bound by an NDA so they can not share any information.

The last we saw of this game after it was announced was during the Chinese Beta Test when we saw some in-game footage that looked quite impressive. Afterward, full mobile gameplay was also leaked and the game seemed to promise a console-like experience. It could be possible that Riot is now testing the game at a global level. However, due to the lack of an official announcement, nothing can be said for sure.

That being said, in case you havenā€™t heard about Valorant Mobile yet, Riot officially announced the game last year. Since the announcement, it has been quite quiet about it. For now, this is all we have until thereā€™s either more info on the private beta from players or Riot Games makes any announcements regarding this. This also comes alongside other major news in the FPS sphere with Warzone Mobile being announced and Rainbow Six Mobile going into beta.

Valorant Mobile is one of the many AAA games making their way to the platform and being one of the biggest games on the scene, it’s obviously a title that many are eagerly waiting for. The game recently had a private test in China and since they kept everything under the wraps, not a lot was known or seen about how the game looks. But now a 13 minutes clip of Valorant mobile gameplay has been leaked.

The gameplay looks extremely similar to the game’s console counterpart

A whole 13 minutes of footage of the gameplay in Valorant mobile has now been leaked, giving the public a good look at the game and letting them know that this title is going to be worth the wait. Recorded from the perspective of Phoenix, one of the many operators in Valorant, the gameplay is so similar to the PC version that the only real difference is the touch controls on the screen.

valorant mobile
Valorant Mobile

Right now Bind is the only map in the game and in the video, the players are engaging in a match of classic Plant/ Defuse with 5 players on each side. Thereā€™s hardly any difference at all here when compared to the PC version. From the abilities to the weapons available during the Buy Stage, everything seems like a true adaptation.

There are visible changes in the game’s UI

Now the one area where there are some clear changes in the UI for the start menu, loading screen, and all those other areas. That is because the game obviously was scaled down to mobile devices and it would have to adopt a slightly new look to appear properly on smaller screens. Visually, the game looks great with the same art style and visuals as the PC version.

Overall, the Valorant mobile gameplay looks really impressive and one thing that should be considered is how it has a competitor in the mobile space now in the form of Rainbow Six Mobile, which looks just as fun during its ongoing beta test. With the competition, we can expect both Ubisoft and Riot to work towards making their games better before global releases.

Valorant Mobile, a portable version of the insanely popular, 5v5 tactical first-person shooter (FPS) from Riot Games is currently having its first closed beta, which is only limited to China. Reportedly, the whole thing is being kept under the wraps. However, some images of Valorant Mobile have been leaked, allowing those outsides of China without access to the beta, to see the state of the current UI screen and take other essential notes.

Valorant Mobile: UI and touch controls look decent

One of the screenshots released reveals the actual game itself, showing how the UI for touch controls has been put into place. The core game seems the same as that on PC. This involves the likes of buying weapons at the start of the match, featuring in teams of 5, special abilities for the chosen agent, the minimap, of the PC-featured map, Ascent.

The graphics look quite good, even though this isnā€™t the final build. This is unlike games like Battlefield Mobile, which have had rough starts, due to really low-quality visuals. The game seems to have a lot of the original agents like Sova, Killjoy, Breach, Jett, Phoenix, Reyna, and Skye. More agents could be released or revealed with time, as Riot Games in the development phase, start taking the game to more regions.

Other screenshots show matchmaking and loading screens. Therefore, thereā€™s not a lot to talk about, based on the information that we have. In the coming days, players can receive some more video footage, that can show them how well the game is doing, in terms of controls and movement and other such details.

Valorant is one of the most anticipated games coming to mobile

Valorant Mobile was first confirmed back in June of 2021 and it is one of the many AAA titles, which mobile gamers are now waiting for. The game is a really popular title on PC with millions of players around the world and many Esports events revolving around it. The game should be coming to mobile soon, as it’s having its beta test right now. Although, there is no official date yet.

Huge news for mobile gamers around the world as Riot Games have officially confirmed their plans to launch a mobile version of the super hit PC FPS title Valorant, putting an end to all the rumors. The confirmation was done during the Year One announcements as well as through press releases, confirmed by Liquipedia.

A roaring success for Valorant so far

Valorant first debuted in beta in April last year, with the full release following in June 2020. Despite being released at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, the game was a smash hit. Itā€™s free-to-play nature as well as the general low spec nature of the game made it appealing to a wider variety of audiences, especially those on a budget and/or playing games on low-end hardware.

The game shared a similar likeness to the highly popular stalwart FPS title CS:GO which also made it appealing to FPS enthusiasts. As a matter of fact, Valorant is estimated to have double the monthly players on an average when compared to CS:GO. That being said, few analyzed that the release of Valorant also ended up boosting player base for CS:GO as well.

Valorant has also established itself as an important title in the esports scene around the globe, again despite releasing in the middle of the pandemic which is also highly impressive.

Valorant Mobile global release date

Speculation around a possible mobile release for Valorant has been around for months and so many felt it was only a matter of time before Riot Games themselves handed out an official announcement. It is unclear how much different the mobile version could be from the PC version and when will it release on mobile platform.

Games such as Fortnite and even more recently, Apex Legends, have shown that it is possible to retain most of the existing feel of the PC game on a handheld device so one can expect Valorant to follow the same especially as it is not as intensive.
