South Korean company PUBG has initiated talks with Jio Platforms for the distribution of PUBG Mobile in India. Recently, the government of India imposed a ban on PUBG mobile along with other 118 apps. This is because it was being distributed in India by Chinese firm Tencent Games. Days after the ban was imposed, PUBG Corp took a bold move by removing Tencent Games authorization in India. Tencent Games was the official publisher of the game in India. The Shenzhen based company was publishing the game since it launched for the first time worldwide.

Since the ban imposed on PUBG Mobile, the PUBG Corp has been seeking alternatives to relaunch in the Indian market. The South-Korean company is looking to unban PUBG Mobile and relaunch the game in India. And to do that PUBG Corporation is looking for an active Indian company for is authorization and distribution.
Recent reports state that PUBG Corporation is in talks with Jio Platforms for the partnership to unban PUBG Mobile and relaunch the game. We can expect a permanent partnership between the companies. The revenue share and localization matter are under discussion and the legal experts are looking onto it.
PUBG is looking at a partner which can help the company navigate through shifting regulations and understanding the nuances of a billion people. While looking into the requirements, Jio Platforms as a game publisher satisfies all the basic requirements. Starting from developers, the monetary status, and popularity it has everything to help PUBG Mobile regain its value in the Indian gaming industry.
Final Thoughts
It is not the first time Jio Platforms is partnering up with PUBG Corp. Earlier they had tied up for the launch of PUBG Lite. Jio users who registered the game got rewards for buying their in-game merchandise.
Until now there’s no comment from either RIL spokesperson or PUBG Corporation regarding the partnership. The talks are still at an early stage and will be confirmed later on. It seems PUBG Corporation isn’t ready to get away from the massive revenue earnings from India. Since the release, the game amassed almost 175 million installations in India alone. This accounts for a quarter of its installations worldwide. To regain its position in the market, PUBG Corp is soon going to find a partner in Jio and comeback into the gaming scenes once again.
