COD Mobile World Championship East Finals 2021, this year’s biggest competitive esports event of Call of Duty: Mobile for the East, has come to an end with Blacklist International emerging as the champions. The Filipino powerhouse overcame all the hindrances on their journey throughout the event and won against the ALMGHTY by 3-2 to lift the trophy. They have finally claimed their first major trophy after being formed the roster the last September 2021.
Before the Grand finals, 12 teams had made their way to the highest event of the East from their respective regional championships. They faced off each other for a share of the massive $1 million prize money. After a two-day battle that had started on December 11, the event concluded on the 12th.
COD Mobile World Championship Eastern Finals 2021: Road to victory
Blacklist, being the runner-up from Group “A”, moved to the semifinals and defeated Q9 by 3-1. The next match was against “A” Group champions ALMGHTY. They were looking like the toughest team in the event so far. However, Blacklist took another victory against them in the upper bracket final and climbed to the Grand Finals.
On the other hand, ALMGHTY faced VrilliantOwlX in the lower bracket final and won by 3-2, after a close quarter battle. The Grand Finals hinted at an exciting clash and happened so. Blacklist took the first-round home whereas ALMGHTY took the next. The same thing happened for the next two rounds.
After the end of four rounds, the scoreline stood at 2-2. The final round was taken by Blacklist International, after a cut-to-throat battle. Thus, they became the champions of the event.
Prize Pool
The event has a massive $1 million prize pool for the teams. Winning the trophy, Blacklist International has got a share of $300,000. Moreover, the runner-up team, ALMGHTY got $180,000. They are followed by the third-placed team, VrilliantOwlX, who took $125,000 home. Qing Jiu Club took another $75,000 as they finished in the top four. The rest of the eight teams got an amount of $40,000 each. Averson “Skerd” Salaya from the champion team won the XPERIA MVP award.
Final thoughts
Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship is the World Championship of the CODM Competitive Season 2021, organized by Activision. Participants are the best teams from each of the Regional Championships. Tribe Gaming emerges as the winner of CoD Mobile World Championship Western Finals 2021.
Blacklist started the event as a hot favorite and finished by establishing them as the best. The team is now looking forward to their next events to start afresh in the 2022 competitive season.
