SEGA has reportedly filed a trademark application on the Japanese trademark website Chizai Watch. The application was initially submitted on June 23rd, and the trademark seems to be a new Sonic game titled Sonic & Friends, yet another title in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe.
The trademark includes categories that strongly indicate a mobile game
In 2021, when SEGA was keeping fans eagerly anticipating its upcoming game, a trademark surfaced that unveiled the title Sonic Frontiers. Similarly, another trademark from SEGA has come to light, following a similar pattern, which might be an indication of a new title.
In the trademark application filed for the beloved and iconic video game franchise by SEGA on the Chizai Watch website, they have included multiple categories. These categories encompass cases and accessories for mobile phones, education and entertainment, toys, clothing, appliances, and machines.
In addition to the categories previously mentioned, the inclusion of game programs, computer software, and game programs for mobile phones in the trademark application raises speculation that the trademark could potentially be a game designed for both PC and mobile devices.
With a vast library of games spanning various genres, Sonic has solidified his status as one of gaming’s most recognizable characters, and if he’s coming back once again on mobile, there is no harm in trying the new game out. Currently, there is no official confirmation regarding this, hence we shall need to wait and see.
