Ultra characters in Squad Busters are arriving in this update

Since the soft launch, the game only has three evolution forms of characters – Baby, Classic, and Super. Now there will be another form – Ultra. While it is not very easy for the majority of the players to reach that yet, the top leaderboard players are getting closer to that. So announcing this major update just before the global release will be fresh air for the players.

To unlock an Ultra character in Squad Busters, you’ll need 1000 baby units. This sounds crazy, but it is the way. To make the process of gaining new units faster, there will be limited-time 2x drop events once in a while.

Important balance changes to prepare for the global launch

During this testing time, Supercell realized that some troops were not so useful compared to others. To adjust this, there are also some balance changes to adjust to abilities, HP, and attacks. Please find the details below.

• Goblin is getting +100 HP
• Chicken is getting +100 HP
• Archer Queen is getting +100 HP
• Witch is getting +100 HP
• Shelly is getting +100 HP
• Nita is getting +100 HP
• Max is getting +100 HP
• Colt is getting +150 HP
• Bow is getting +150 HP
• Wizard is getting +150 HP
• Medic is getting +200 HP
• Dynamike is getting +200 HP
• Pam is getting +200 HP
• Tank is getting +200 HP
• Penny is getting +200 HP
• Mega Chicken is getting +500 HP

Plaza Decorations

The plaza in Squad Busters is opening for the first time. You’ll be able to collect hammers through events, shop, and buy them for your plaza to make it beautiful. These are pure cosmetics and do not add any other value.

Changes to Mega Units

Mega Units in Squad Busters is getting the much-needed adjustments. You’ll no longer get them in the first two minutes of the game. If your squad size is decent and you’re placed well among the 10 players then chances of getting a mega unit will be very less. On the other hand, if you are close to getting busted or your troop strength is weak, your chance of getting a mega unit will be increased. And one player can have one mega unit in one match.

Other Changes

• Royal Ghost now drops better rewards
• Tree Giant now drops the Log spell
• The chest ticket timer now doesn’t reset if you buy chest tickets from the shop
• Your next battle squad will now be better with more unlocked characters
• Turbo recharges faster
• More golds towards the second half of the match
• Loot boxes give one more coin
• Referral program to earn rewards inside the game

Not only this, Squad Busters will also release its new world, Ice World at the end of June with 3 new troops and four new mods.

Squad Busters free redeem codes and rewards

Since the game is still very new, makers try to attract audiences by giving freebies at the start of progress and boosting the experience. However, Supercell has decided against it, and hence Squad Busters has not published any redemption codes for us to redeem.

But this can be because the game is in the soft launch stage. As soon as the full game is released and if the redeem codes by then arrive, I will update the table above with the respective free redeem codes. When they do, remember to add them immediately to your account before they expire and copy and paste them since codes are case-sensitive.

What is a Mega Unit in Squad Busters

As the name suggests already, Mega Units in Squad Busters are very powerful and rare to come across. Unlike the other troops, these are consumables in the game. That means once you use it for one time, it is gone, and you’ll have to unlock it again to use it on the battlefield.

In terms of look, these are pretty funny and interesting to look at. You can already see that they have a unique twist in visuals and abilities.

All available Mega Units in Squad Busters

Currently, there are only two Mega Units in Squad Busters. These are:

1. El Tigre

El Tigre is a Common Mega Unit that looks like a mix of Tigre and El Primo. It is a melee unit that excels in hand-to-hand combat. El Tigre comes with 11000 HP and 250 Attack. If you bust 3 foes, the next attack from El Tigre will be a flying Elbow Pounce.

2. Dragon Chicken

As the name suggests, it is a mix of Dragon and Chicken, how cool is that?! This troop is also a melee unit but excels in speed. It has 8000 HP and 300 Attack. Dragon Chicken can drop some Golden Turbo Boots.

How to get Mega Units in Squad Busters

As of now, there are very limited ways you can get a Mega Unit in Squad Busters. You do not need to unlock them separately like you do for troops, but if you get a Mega Unit, that’s it, now you have the chance to encounter a Mega Unit in one of your upcoming battles. You can get Mega Units in two ways:

• Gem Pass: The monthly seasonal pass or the gem pass offers Mega Units. Even if you are on the free pass, you’ll still get Mega Unit. And if you purchase the Gem Pass, you’ll get more!
• In-game Shop: This is another way to get some Mega Units in Squad Busters. Generally, the pricing is 5000 Gold Coin for one Mega Unit. However, there are much better uses of Gold Coins.

So once you get one and find it on the battlefield, time for some fun. These Mega Units can be useful in any Squad Busters battle mods.

Squad Busters Evolution Stages and Calculation

Each troop by default has 4 stages of evolution – Baby, Classic, Super, and Ultra. When you unlock a troop, its starts at the Baby stage. After you do the first round of evolution, it becomes Classic. Then the next round will make it Super, and it goes on. However, it is not as easy as it sounds. Fortunately, you do not require Gold Coins for evolution.

The game already shows that there are more versions of evolution planned. According to some leaks shared on the official subreddit, it looks like the next version is going to be called Ultimate. As per the calculation, it is expected that one Ultimate evolution will require 10,000 Baby Troops.

Benefits of Evolution

Evolution is one of the few ways to progress in the game. To complete the Squad Journey, you’ll need to do this. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck. When you do an evolution, your troops become powerful. They unlock bonus attributes that make it much stronger.

When you complete a fusion (which unlocks the evolution form for you) on the battlefield, it requires 3 troops of the same. In return, the troop becomes almost 2.5x in terms of total HP and Attack. Not only that this battlefield fusion also helps in lowering the Chest prices for you.

Game modes or battle mods that unlock at Green World

When you start Squad Busters, you start at the Green World. It is considered as the Squad Journey level 1 to 14 and unlocks a total of 8 battle mods or game modes.

• Double Trouble: Every chest will offer double characters, both are the same though.
• Loot Goblin Rush: Plenty of Goblins with a loot sack will be around. You need to hit them for gold!
• Pinata Party: Pinatas will spawn on the map that will offer gold coins and gems.
• Turbo Overload: Turbo boots will randomly appear on the map.
• Tree Giants: Gem-filled trees will be there at the center of the map.
• Speel Overload: Spells will randomly appear on the map.
• Fusion Start: You’ll start with a fusion character.

Game modes or battle mods that unlock at Desert World

There are 5 battle mods or game modes unlocked at the Desert World. Once you hit level 15 on the Squad Journey, this world starts and continues until level 34.

• Epic Overload: Every chest offers an epic card but you can pick only if the card is unlocked.
• Whack-A-Mole: Mole robots will appear and you can bust those for loot.
• Royal Hunt: Royal Hosts can be beaten to add to your squad.
• Loot Surge: The map offers plenty of loot.
• Doppelgangers: Each chest pick will change your squad.

Game modes or battle mods that unlock at Royal World

Squad Busters Royal World starts at Squad Journey level 35 and continues until 59. This world unlocks a total of 5 game modes or battle mods.

• Chest Imposters: Fake chest will not offer any loot.
• Golden Boots: Better boots, better boost.
• Super Gem Mine: A bigger gem mine will burst out more gems.
• Gift Critters: Gift-wrapped robots will be roaming around for you.
• Mega Start: You get a free mega unit at the start.

Game modes or battle mods that unlock at Beach World

Beach World in Squad Busters starts at level 50 and continues until level 89. It unlocks 4 game modes.

• Angry Vines: The growth of the vines is boosted.
• Baby Battle: Only babies are allowed to be on the battlefield!
• Monster Pets: Chests will give you monster pets.
• Ring Grab: You can get Gem Rings in this battle mod.

All these 22 game modes or the battle mods are available as of now. I’ll be updating this article when more game modes are added in Squad Busters.

It is natural to wait and unlock all characters in Squad Busters unless you have a fat wallet. You should be able to unlock every single character if you are regular with the game and have completed the Squad Journey. But certain tips may be useful to know.

It is always better not to use the gold currency for buying characters from the shop. The prices are huge and not worth it. As you can see 100k gold just to unlock Bea should never be the choice for free-to-play players or little spenders.

As you progress in the Squad Journey, it will unlock all the characters. However, that being said, you may need to wait a long time to unlock certain characters as not all of them are unlockable through the Squad Journey. Some need luck, and these can make you wait for a long time.

For example, I still do not have Medic from the Green World even though I have already played over 150 matches and toward the end of Desert World (at the time of writing this article). I have seen some people complaining about not being able to unlock characters, while a few have said they were lucky enough to get all the characters without spending any money.

Since gold coins are the only currency in Squad Busters, it is the currency that the players need to buy with real money. And if you guess that it will not be readily available, you are wrong.

There are plenty of ways you can acquire gold coins, but the game economy is designed in a way that you have to spend gold to fast-track your progress. The 90-level Squad Journey is a massive hurdle to complete.

• Squad Journey: As you progress in the Squad Journey, you’ll be rewarded with plenty of gold coins.
• Gem Pass: The battle pass of Squad Busters will offer some gold even in the free tier.
• Daily Tasks: The daily tasks under Weekly Quests reward a handsome amount of gold every day.
• Lobby Troops: The troops wandering around in your lobby often drop a little gold, just tap on them.
• Lobby Chest: The lobby offers a chest a regular intervals and it grants a little gold.

Best ways to spend Gold Coins in Squad Busters

There are certain ways you can use the gold coins in Squad Busters. But not all of them are value for your gold. In my opinion (and all the people from Reddit), the best way to spend gold is to buy 3x Chest Tickets for 6000 gold. It is by far the best value for money in the game (at the time of writing this article).

You can also buy cards directly from the shop using gold but it does not offer a very good value unless you want to pick certain Epic Cards. So this is a priority-based decision. But you should try to avoid buying Common or Rare cards from the shop using your gold coins.

One more thing where you can spend your gold is to maintain your win streak in Squad Busters. Let’s say you are on a good win streak (above 10) and suddenly you are placed out of the top 5, you can use the gold coins to maintain your streak. But again, this is only good if you have a fat wallet.

All Worlds in Squad Busters

The 90 level of Squad Journey is divided into 4 Worlds. After that, the leaderboard starts and it is named Squad League.

• Green World: Level 1 to 14
• Desert World: Level 15 to 34
• Royal World: Level 35 to 59
• Beach World: Level 60 to 89
• Squad League: Level 90 onward

Tips to complete the Squad Journey fast in Squad Busters

There is a very basic thing that Supercell states for the Squad Journey in Squad Busters. That is, you need to evolve your characters to get Portal Energy, and this would help you climb up the levels. However, it is not as easy as it sounds.

1. Evolve your characters

To evolve characters you need the cards. To get cards, you either need to open chests or buy them directly from the shop. Now if you want to buy them directly from them this is always costly if I consider you can manage to finish in the top 5 in matches.

Buying chests in the shop instead of getting cards directly will give you much more value. When you buy 3x chest tickets for 6000 gold, each chest will cost you 2000 gold. However, if you look at the price on the shop on what you can get for 2000 gold, you’ll see a significant price difference.

2. Complete the Achievements Book

Other than evolving the characters, you can also get Portal Energy by completing achievements. So looking at those carefully to tweak your gameplay based on the requirements is important if you plan to level up in Squad Busters Squad Journey fast.

The Achievement Book is divided into three parts: Monsters, Battle Mods, and Spells. Each one of them has their own set of achievements. So if you can complete those at the earliest, you’ll be able to fast-track your Squad Journey progress.
