Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia, Square Enix’s anime RPG to shut down on February 2024

Square Enix recently announced that the popular mobile game Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia (DFFOO) will end service and shut down its servers worldwide on February 29, 2024. Square Enix made the decision after determining that delivering satisfactory service in the future would be difficult.

The game announced exciting events preparing the fans for one final ride

DFFOO has made a lasting impression on the mobile gaming community after running for an incredible seven years in Japan and six years globally. All in-game gem sales have ended as part of the shutdown process as of the announced date on November 29, 2023. Beginning on this date, players will no longer be able to purchase Gems, the in-game currency.

Despite the heartbreaking announcement, Square Enix has promised fans a series of events in the game’s last months to make its farewell memorable. However, all Gem sales have officially halted as of November 29, 2023. Players are advised to spend any remaining Gems before the game’s service expires.

Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia just celebrated its 5th anniversary in February of this year by holding some great events in the game. It is sad to see another Square Enix game ending its service, as last month even Dragon Quest Monsters Super Light, Square Enix’s long-running mobile RPG, announced to end service on January 31, 2024.

Square Enix has closed the purchase of Gems and promised refunds for unused in-game currency

Square Enix has promised players that refunds will be issued for purchased but unused in-game currency. The details of the refund procedure will be made accessible at a later date via DFFOO’s official website and support center. To guarantee a seamless procedure, players are recommended not to delete the app until the refund has been delivered.

Meanwhile, any Gems currently owned by players will be usable until the game’s service is terminated. If a player does not have enough Gems for in-game draws, the game will take them to the purchase page, but the opportunity to purchase Gems will be disabled.

As the countdown to the final day begins, fans of Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia may look forward to a series of events commemorating the game’s legacy, while Square Enix ensures a fair and transparent process for players with unused in-game currency.
