Genshin Impact Chiori Guide: Materials, Weapons, Artifacts, Abilities, Playstyle, and Team Comps

Everything you need to know about Chiori to bring her to the max potential!

Genshin Impact Version 4.5 debuts the already established character who was first introduced during Version 4.3the new 5-star Chiori (Geo/Sword). This guide will explain everything about how to build Chiori and play her in her best teams in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact Chiori Guide: Abilities description

Talent upgrade priority

When prioritizing Chiori’s talents, her Elemental Skill should be your main focus whether she’s on the field or off it, as her Tomoto contributes the majority of her damage either way. Next in line should be her Elemental Burst, followed by her Normal Attack. In most cases, you don’t even need to level up her Normal Attack at all.

Elemental Skill > Elemental Burst > Normal Attack

Normal Attack: Weaving Blade

Normal Attack

Performs up to 4 rapid strikes.

Charged Attack

Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to unleash 2 rapid sword strikes.

Plunging Attack

Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.

Elemental Skill: Fluttering Hasode

Dashes nimbly forward with silken steps. Once this dash ends, Chiori will summon the automaton doll “Tamoto” beside her and sweep her blade upward, dealing AoE Geo DMG to nearby opponents based on her ATK and DEF. Holding the Skill will cause it to behave differently.

Hold Skill

Enter Aiming Mode to adjust the dash direction.

Tamoto

Will slash at nearby opponents at intervals, dealing AoE Geo DMG based on Chiori’s ATK and DEF. While active, if there are nearby Geo Construct(s) or Geo Construct(s) are created nearby, an additional Tamoto will be summoned next to your active character. Only 1 additional Tamoto can be summoned in this manner, and its duration is independently counted.

Elemental Burst: Hiyoku: Twin Blades

Twin blades leave their sheaths as Chiori slices with the clean cuts of a master tailor, dealing AoE Geo DMG based on her ATK and DEF.

Ascension 1 Passive: Tailor-Made

Gain different effects depending on the next action you take within a short duration after using Fluttering Hasode‘s upward sweep. If you Press the Elemental Skill, you will trigger the Tapestry effect. If you your Normal Attack, the Tailoring effect will be triggered instead.

Tapestry

The skill switches to the next character in your roster. Grants all your party members “Seize the Moment”: When your active party member’s Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, and Plunging Attacks hit a nearby opponent, “Tamoto” will execute a coordinated attack, dealing 100% of Fluttering Hasode’s upward sweep DMG as AoE Geo DMG at the opponent’s location. DMG dealt this way is considered Elemental Skill DMG.

“Seize the Moment” lasts 8s, and 1 of “Tamoto”‘s coordinated attack can be unleashed every 2s. 2 such coordinated attacks can occur per “Seize the Moment” effect duration.

Tailoring

Chiori gains Geo infusion for 5s. When on the field, if Chiori does not either Press her Elemental Skill or use a Normal Attack within a short time after using Fluttering Hasode’s upward sweep, the Tailoring effect will be triggered by default.

Ascension 4 Passive: The Finishing Touch

When a nearby party member creates a Geo Construct, Chiori will gain a 20% Geo DMG Bonus for 20s.

Utility Passive: Brocaded Collar’s Beauteous Silhouette

When any party member is wearing an outfit apart from their default outfit or is wearing a wind glider other than the Wings of First Flight, your party members will obtain the Swift Stride effect: Movement SPD is increased by 10%. This effect does not take effect in Domains, Trounce Domains, and the Spiral Abyss. Swift Stride does not stack.

Genshin Impact Chiori Guide: Abilities explained

Normal Attack: Weaving Blade

Chiori’s basic attacks are a four-hit combo that costs 20 stamina for a Charged attack. By default, they deal Physical Damage, but her skill allows them to be infused with Geo element. Without her C6, her basic attacks only get stronger based on her attack stats. However, her Skill and Burst damage scale with both her Defense and Attack stats, making her a character with dual-scaling capabilities.

Elemental Skill: Fluttering Hasode

When you use Chiori’s Skill, she dashes forward, dealing Geo damage in an upward sweep. Tapping her Skill makes her dash instantly towards the nearest enemy while holding her Skill lets you manually choose the dash direction. This also summons the Tomoto doll, a geo construct that sticks around and deals periodic Geo damage every 3.6 seconds for 17 seconds, totalling 5 hits during its duration.

If another teammate has a Geo construct on the field before or after Chiori summons her first Tomoto doll, she’ll summon a second one with the same duration and damage, effectively doubling her Tomoto damage output. This means you’ll need specific teammates or her first constellation to activate both dolls, though some teams might only be able to activate one.

One advantage of her dolls is their durability; they’re not easily destroyed, especially by certain heavy attacks from boss fights

Elemental Burst: Hiyoku: Twin Blades

Chiori’s Burst unleashes Geo damage in an AoE, and it’s quite energy-efficient, costing only 50 energy with a short cooldown of 13.5 seconds. It packs a decent punch in terms of damage.

In certain rotations and team setups where you’re trying to minimize Chiori’s time on the battlefield, it’s ideal to use her Burst before switching to another teammate after casting her Skill. This sequence triggers her Geo-infusion effect automatically

Ascension 1 Passive: Tailor-Made

Unlocking Chiori’s Ascension 1 talent brings additional effects to her skill dash based on your follow-up actions. Tapping the skill again after dashing lets you switch to the next character in your lineup. Your party on the field then benefits from the ‘Seize the Moment’ effect for 8 seconds. During this time, when the active character performs a Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attack, Chiori deals coordinated geo-skill damage. However, this effect can only trigger once every 2 seconds and is limited to twice during its duration.

Alternatively, if Chiori uses a Normal Attack after her skill dash, she triggers the ‘Tailoring’ effect, granting her sword attacks geo infusion for 5 seconds. This allows for a brief period of on-field DPS playstyle, but it’s best to switch her out once the infusion ends to maximize your other character’s time and abilities on the field.

If you don’t press either her Skill or Normal Attack buttons after a Skill dash, she’ll automatically trigger the Geo infusion effect after a while. However, this infusion can be overridden if other teammates with infusion abilities are present. Essentially, if you’re using her mainly as an off-field unit, just tap her skill twice. But if you want her to stay on the field and deal Geo attacks, use her Skill followed by a Normal Attack combo.

Ascension 4 Passive: The Finishing Touch

With her Ascension 4 Passive, Chiori gains a 20% Geo damage bonus whenever a different party member creates a geo construct. However, she can’t trigger this passive for herself by creating a Tomoto.

Utility Passive: Brocaded Collar’s Beauteous Silhouette

Chiori’s exploration Passive is fairly unique as she can increase her party’s movement speed as long as a team-mate has improved their fashion by wearing an outfit other than their default outfit.

Genshin Impact Chiori Guide: Playstyle

Chiori’s playstyle is fairly simple as she works best as an off-field damage dealer. Her rotation is fairly simple.

  • Cast Chiori’s Elemental Burst when it is ready
  • Then cast her Elemental Skill afterwards. Hold her Skill button to aim and once released press her Skill again to switch to the other party member.

Genshin Impact Chiori Guide: Materials

As a Geo character, Chiori uses Prithiva Topaz stones for ascension and they can be obtained from the Geo Hypostasis or any other Geo-related bosses. Her other ascension material, Artificed Spare Clockwork Component – Coppelia can be obtained from the Icewind Suite Boss (Coppelia). The boss materials for her talents can be obtained from the All-Devouring Narwhal weekly boss. Players can check this out for a detailed breakdown of Chiori’s materials.

Genshin Impact Chiori Guide: Best Weapons for Chiori

Chiori’s defense multipliers have a bigger impact so you generally want to prioritize defense stat. The advantage of dual-scaling is the added flexibility as she can benefit from either attack or defense from her artifacts, weapons, teammates, and various external sources. The great thing about Chiori is her weapon flexibility as she has a range of F2P 4* Weapons players can use and not be pressurized to get her signature weapon.

5* weapons

Weapon NameWeapon Stats
Uraku MisugiriBase ATK: 542
CRIT DMG: 88.2%

Reason: Signature Weapon that caters specifically to Chiori’s kit and play-style. However, it is not worth it as there are better F2P-friendly alternatives.
Primordial Jade CutterBase ATK 542
CRIT Rate 44.1%
Mistsplitter ReforgedBase ATK 674
CRIT DMG 44.1%

4* weapons

Weapon NameWeapon Stats
Harbinger of DawnBase ATK 454
DEF 69.0%

Reason: Another good F2P option although the weapon is no longer accessible to many newer players who have not participated in the limited event of obtaining the weapon. The weapon rivals the Harbinger of Dawn so newer do not have to worry much. The Skill buf has a 1.5-second trigger cooldown so if you want both Tomotos to get buffed, you will need to time the summon so that their attack is 1.5 seconds apart.

Wolf-FangBase ATK 510

Reason: Although not so F2P friendly as it is a BP weapon. But the Crit rate and Skill/Burst DMG bonuses are worth it.

Genshin Impact Chiori Guide: Best Artifacts for Chiori

Chiori’s artifacts are fairly straightforward to farm and build. Chiori scales from both ATK and DEF but her DEF multipliers are comparatively higher than her ATK, with added Constellations enhancing the DEF scaling. As such you would only need to prioritize DEF-related scaling and buffs. You would want a DEF Sands, a Geo DMG Goblet, and lastly a Crit Circlet. Sub-stats you should look for Crit then DEF and lastly ATK, with ER being a bonus, but not needed.

SandsGobletCirclet
DEF% (ATK% if better sub-stats)GEO DMG BONUSCRIT DMG/CRIT RATE

As for her ER target, it can vary from low to almost nothing. This is due to her Elemental Burst being a low Energy Cost so you’ll get it back fairly quickly depending on your team party and energy sources. With saying that, it is also perfectly okay to trigger your Burst every other rotation. So generally you should aim for 100%-130% ER with added Geo party members.

Husk of Opulent Dreams2-Pieces Bonus
Increases Elemental Skill DMG by 20%.

4-Pieces Bonus
Increases Elemental Skill DMG by 25%. Additionally, when not on the field, Elemental Skill DMG will be further increased by 25%. This effect will be cleared 2s after taking the field.

Reason:
This set is compatible with more of an off-field Chiori build but has a lower potential for an on-field Chiori playstyle. The set grants a fairly big amount of Elemental Skill DMG bonus and farming the set is very efficient since the Domain has another great set used for a fairly amount of new characters.

Genshin Impact Chiori Guide: Best Team Compositions for Chiori

Mono Geo – Arataki Itto Focused

One of Chiori’s best team comps is one involving a mono geo team with Itto involved being the Geo DPS unit. In this team, Chiori acts as an off-field damage dealer who can enable her Burst in every rotation. Firstly you would use Gorou and Zhongli to activate the buffs and Shields. Then swap to Chiori to use her Tomoto dolls. Finally, switches to Itto to deal raw Geo damage with his Burst. Chiori in this team is purely a sub-dps with her off-field damage.

Mono Geo – Noelle Focused

This team works just like Itto’s mono-geo team. You can also use Furina instead of Zhongli if you require a buffer in the team as Noelle can also provide a Shield just like Zhongli does. Simply use Gorou to activate his Support buffs then swap to Chiori for her summons. Lastly, Noelle will take up the field and deal Geo damage.

Double Geo

Another team that works for Chiori is a double geo team. This team will have Chiori paired up with another Geo unit preferably someone like Navia or Geo Traveler for the Geo constructs. In this team Chiori can play as a more offensive play-style by Navia is still the main Geo DPS in the party. Bennett and Xiangling/Furina will be providing the ATK buffs, healing buffs, off-field damage etc. Bennett/Xiangling/Furina can be replaced with other viable units in the party as long as there is another Geo unit that works with Chiori.

Chiori is pretty good at C0. C1 is a great quality-of-life boost but not necessarily needed. C6 unlocks her true potential as a DPS. Players can check the following article out for a detailed breakdown of Chiori’s constellations.
