The BGMI Masters Series 2022, a LAN esports event organized by NODWIN Gaming concluded yesterday with Global Esports or GE emerging as the champions in a championship race that went on till the last match of the tournament. In this article, we will tell give you the summary and complete results of the tournament.
BGMI Masters Series 2022 featured the nation’s top BGMI Esports teams
The tournament, which initially kicked off with 24 teams, went through 3 preliminary weeks to weed off the bottom 8 teams while the top 16 made their way into the Grand Finals. The weekly league stages saw much action, with more than one team missing out on the Grand Finals by very slim margins which were more than attainable given the pleasure of playing at least one more match.
But sadly, that’s not how eliminations work. The Grand Finals was a 5-day affair with all the teams turning up to show their very best and to take the trophy and a portion of the prize pool home. Right off the bat, GodLike, probably India’s most successful lineup since the inception of BGMI esports took off with a super aggressive style of play and sat atop the leaderboard.
It did come as a bit of surprise though, given GodLike’s poor form in the recent tournaments. However, from day 2 onwards, Team SouL, regarded as the most in-form team started climbing up the table with a show of their trademark balanced gameplay and their star player Goblin leapfrogged into the MVP list.
On day 3, as SouL took back the lead, it looked like the team was well on its way to another trophy. But a poor display from SouL saw the title race turn into a 4-way fight with Global Esports, Orangutan, SouL, and GodLike all contending for the trophy. A stellar comeback performance from Global Esports saw them clinch the title away from GodLike Esports by the slimmest of margins and became the champions.
Global Esports secured a prize of 25,00,000 INR by winning the BGMI Masters Series 2022
The winners Global Esports secured a prize of 25,00,000 INR, while runners-up GodLike and 3rd placed Orangutan took home 12,00,000 INR and 7,00,000 INR respectively. GodLike Esports’s star player and one of India’s best players Jonathan took away the coveted individual title of MVP.
The BGMS tournament was a milestone in the Indian esports scene. It became the first-ever esports tournament to be broadcast to the general public via television, just like regular sports, which showed that esports is also a viable form of entertainment and sports in general.
Also, the viewership and interaction broke multiple records and set new ones which are ones to look out for. Overall, it was an amazing tournament that widely met everyone’s expectations and is one worth remembering.
