Stories will be told as the return of esports has set its mark in millions of fans’ hearts. Talking about the sweet end of Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023, Gladiators Esports have become the champions. After 3 months of fighting, the journey has reached its final touchdown as the event closed its veil earlier today, the 15th of October 2023.
With 200 points, Gladiators Esports dominated the point table to stay on top and leave others behind to sit on the throne. Despite getting a single chicken dinner, the team proved that consistency is the key where “slow and steady” always prevails. However, BIG BROTHER ESPORTS claimed the runners-up position by a gap of 9 points from the first-placed team. Fan-favourite team TeamXSpark finished the esports event in third place with 173 points.
Gladiators Esports: The journey of the champions in BGIS 2023
Gladiators had a rough start on the initial day of the event as the team finished in 7th place with just 46 points by its name. Revenant Esports was in the driving position with 83 points, followed by Gods Reign with the same number. TeamXSpark took the first match and it shook the crowd. However, they finished in 4th.
Later on the the event, some changes were made to the table according to the performance each team displayed. BIG BROTHER ESPORTS climbed to the top on the second day with the champion breathing on their neck. Gladiators was just 4 points behind. Though the team was consistent, they failed to attain any chicken dinners, however.
Revenant watched the biggest fall on the final day of the event. They went down to the 7th after the final round was over. On the other hand, Gladiators were too violent to stop and massacred the battlegrounds. Sitting on the top, the team scored 104 elimination points. Thus, the team became the BGIS 2023 champions.
The champions win the largest share of the prize pool
The event featured INR 2 crore (approximately $240,500) as the prize pool. The champions took the largest share home which is ₹7,500,000 (almost $90,500), while the runner-up pocketed ₹3,750,000 (almost $45,100), followed by TeamXSpark who took ₹2,500,000 (almost $30,100) and Blind Esports with ₹1,250,000 (almost $15,100). Gladiators Esports is experiencing its best year in 2023 so far. The team stepped into the BGIS 2023 just after winning the champion title in the largest third-party BGMI event in India, the BGMI Masters Series (BGMS) 2023.
However, the next aim will be at the PMGC 2023 as there is a strong possibility of witnessing an Indian team in the grand event of PUBG Mobile Esports. There are still two slots left to fill, and the teams will be directly invited. Without any Indian teams, the PMGC 2023 will somewhat lose its color. Thus, the team can hope to be in the major league ahead.
