Riot Games China announced League of Legends: Wild Rift Spark Invitational 2021. With 16 Non-LPL teams, the esports tournament will kick off on August 17, 2021. The champion team will secure its place in the upcoming Wild Rift World Championship. And the top two teams will participate in the Chinese Wild Rift Professional League Qualifier (WPL).
Tournament format
Starting from August 17, the tournament will run till August 22, 2021. Non-LPL teams are the ones that aren’t participating in the League of Legends Professional League (LPL) Qualifier. Top teams will be promoted to play the qualifier stage of LPL, a big opportunity indeed. The top two among the 16 teams will have the honor to represent China in the WPL.
A noticeable factor here in the Spark Invitational 2021 is that participant teams are pretty well known in other games. Four Angry Men, Da Kun Gaming, Nova Esports China are top teams of PUBG Mobile in the region. J Team already has its LOL PC line-up, and KuaiShow Legends is a regular performer in Arena of Valor.
Spark Invitational is the first official tournament by Riot Games in the China region. 16 teams will be divided into four groups and will play in a round-robin BO3 (all-play-all) format. From each group, two teams will advance to the next stage. Riot China hasn’t announced anything regarding the playoffs.
