Besides winning the trophy, the champion team booked their slot in the upcoming Wild Rift Horizon Cup 2021. This is an upcoming kick-off tournament before the Wild Rift World Championship. Also, being the champions, Sengoku Gaming won a total of ¥4,000,000 ($36,329) prize money while the runner-up took ¥1,000,000 ($9,082). The tournament was conducted by Riot Games in collaboration with X-moment, the official tournament organizer.
Wild Rift Japan Cup 2021: As it happened
The Grand Final was not the first time both teams were facing each other in this tournament. They faced off earlier in a group stage match before the finals where Sengoku Gaming defeated USG by a scoreline of 2-0. The final was thought to be a stage to take revenge for USG. On the road to the finals, the champion team Sengoku Gaming won against Killer Gaming in the semis, whereas USG had beaten elDiveGaming in the other semifinal. Both the matches ended with a scoreline of 2-0.
In the finals, the first round was won by Sengoku Gaming but, in the next round, USG threw a challenge in the finals after winning the second round. The scoreline stood at 1-1 after the first two matches in the grand finals. By proving all the calculations wrong, Sengoku Gaming won the next two matches and defeated USG once again to claim the championship.
Sengoku Gaming will be a team to watch in the upcoming Wild Rift tournaments
After conquering Japan, the next target for Sengoku Gaming is already in the sights as they look forward to showing their prowess at the international levels. The first international event, the Horizon Cup 2021, will be the first stage for them now to show their worth against the best teams from the other regions. Sengoku Gaming will join as the third team to qualify for this tournament so far along with the previously qualified two teams KT Rolster, and Da Kun Gaming(DKG).
