How to set your status to Offline in Fortnite

• Launch Fortnite and click on the three dots present on the left-hand side of the screen. 
• Click on your profile picture to access your profile.
• Find the Online status bar and toggle it to Offline to appear offline.
• Change the Party Privacy setting to Private.

How to change your status using the Epic Games launcher

By using the Epic Games Launcher, players can turn their Fortnite status offline, and this will also apply to all games that use Epic Games Launcher.

• Open Epic Games Launcher, and go to your profile on the right-hand side.
• Click on settings and find preferences.
• Enable offline mode in the preferences section.
• Confirm by clicking on the checkbox in the Epic Games Launcher.

This is how players can change their Online/Offline status and appear offline in Fortnite. As for Android and iOS users, there is no explicit way how you can change your status and appear offline in the game.

Epic Games injunction asked for a few changes in Google Play Store Policy

As reported by Reuters, not only did Epic ask for a six-year approval from Google on their app store to allow an app library, but it also asked for several other actions. The company asked the court to redirect Google from applying exclusive control over the developers, device manufacturers, etc.

Google has been dealing with the allegations over its store for many years now. It always defended its policy but in December 2023, the Jury ruled Play Store as an ‘illegal monopoly’. The company had to pay $700 million after losing the legal battle incurred after Google removed Fortnite from the Play Store. The company, then, opened an out-app billing opportunity for developers.

What Epic has asked in the recent injunction will increase freedom, open opportunities to earn extra revenues, limit Google’s authority, and so on. The actions consist of allowing the third-party app stores for six years in the Google Play Store, restrictions on preloading the apps that the tech giant could force manufacturers to use, and more. Epic also asked for a restriction on Google’s authority on “the ways an app can inform users about out-app-purchasing notifications”. This will limit a huge revenue for the giant if approved by the court.

Epic has been fighting long battles for many years against the app store giants

A few days ago, Epic said it wanted to stop the gatekeeping practices of the giant two companies Google and Apple. Epic also announced to bringing of its mobile app for their titles. After the win on the antitrust issue, now the company is asking for a broader opportunity not only for itself.

If the new injunction comes out as a stay order it will significantly increase the competition. Google has been abusive and held the exclusive power over the apps on its store, as found in that antitrust case. After winning that over, it was obvious that Epic would not stop here.

Epic also is in the fight against another tech giant Apple, the case was issued in 2020. Though Android users already of the freedom to install third-party app stores,  Google is on top of the dominance.  Looks like the domination is now heading the opposite.

Both of the companies haven’t commented on the issue yet. The result of this filing is uncertain yet it will open a shade of light for everyone except Google. We may watch others join in favor of Epic as well. Now, it will be interesting to watch how the mighty tech giant responds to the filing. Google has until the 3rd of May to respond.

NPCs in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

There are several NPCs available in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2. If you plan to hire friendly NPCs for their services, you can do so by giving them Gold Bars. As of now, a total of 20 friendly NPCs are available in the game along with other hostile NPCs. The number of NPCs in the game might increase as the season progresses.

Additionally, you can also challenge the Bravo Leader into a battle to get the Warforged Assault Rifle for free.
• Poseidon – This NPC can be found at the Reckless Railways location. You can buy the Warforged Assault Rifle for 300 Gold Bars and Chug Splash for 120 Gold Bars from here. You can also hire Poseidon as a Heavy Specialist for 250 Gold Bars.
• Medusa – She can be found at the Fencing landmark. You can buy Shockwave Grenades from her for 200 Gold Bars along with also getting the ability to activate Prop Disguise for 50 Gold Bars.

Lastly, you can challenge Etheria for a battle and if you win you can get a Rare rarity Warforged Assault Rifle and a Rare rarity Huntress DMR for free.

List of Hostile NPCs and Bosses in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

Apart from friendly NPCs, hostile NPCs are also present in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2. If you can defeat them in a battle, you will probably be rewarded with something which might change the result of the game. So you shouldn’t always try to avoid contact with these hostile NPCs all the time. Here are the locations where you can find hostile NPCs in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2.

1. Olympian Bosses

 You can find these NPCs by looking at the Altars which will appear on the map right after you start a match. Each of these markers shows the location of an Olympian Boss Altar that hasn’t been challenged yet. You can fight against these bosses and if you win, you will be rewarded with an Aspect of the Gods medallion.

A total of four medallions are available in the game right now and each one of them will provide you with unique ability. You will also be able to acquire a unique Mythic weapon along with the medallion after defeating the boss. These Olympian Bosses can be found at Mount Olympus, Brawler’s Battleground, Grim Gate, and The Underworld respectively. 

2. Forecast Tower Bosses

You can also fight against Forecast Tower Bosses in Fortnite. They can be found near Reclaimed Villa, Restored Reels, Lil’ Villa, Zenith Wall, and Estate Station. Three hostile NPCs will spawn at any of these locations before the second Storm Circle starts to close.

You can choose to fight against them and if you win you’ll be rewarded with an Epic rarity Huntress DMR and the ability to see the forecast which will allow you to know where the next Storm Circle will be before it is revealed to other players.

3. Vault Bosses

Society vaults were removed from the current season of Fortnite at its beginning. But still, several protected vaults can be found on the map. You can find these vaults bear Rebel’s Roost, Estate Station, Coastal Comms, and Unmoored Manor.

You will have to defeat the hostile NPC bosses present at these locations to acquire their vault keycards. With these keycards, you will be able to open the metal doors of the vaults and gain access to all the loot that is available inside.

Apple’s non-compliance with the 2021 ruling lead the companies to join hands with Epic

In 2021, California federal judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled in favor of Epic in the dispute vs Apple. The ruling said that Apple should not restrict developers from using “buttons, external links, or other calls to action” methods to complete their payments. As it would cause Apple to lose its 15 to 30 percent fees on in-app purchases. The company said that it was “reasonable” as developers use their App Store service to deliver the apps to the customers.

This affected the app developers badly as they could not provide services at a lower price even if they wanted to. Rather, they had to go through Apple’s payment system which Apple controls completely.

However, the companies opposed the rule implemented by Apple, saying the proposal of letting the developers point to an external purchase link will increase difficulties and they’ve been subject to Apple’s rule. Thus, Microsoft, Meta, X, and Match took themselves as joinder of Epic (amicus brief) in the legal suit.

“Apple’s new restrictions are plainly designed to render alternatives to Apple’s IAP impractical for developers, and inaccessible and unappealing to consumers, thus circumventing both the spirit and underlying goals of the injunction,” the companies wrote in their brief.

Tech giants join Epic Games, saying Apple’s policy is affecting all

The giants are also being subject to Apple’s dictatorship in setting their App Store policy. So they asked the judge to enforce the original ruling that was delivered in 2021.

Meta, being one of the affected bodies, said that it has to pay in-app purchase fees to Apple for products that have the feature which increases the costs for both the users and them. But if the company could take the users to its payment options, the cost would become severely low.

In a chat with The Verge, Apple spokesperson Fred Sainz said that Apple is complying with the court’s ruling. The case filing said Epic never disputed Apple’s policy regarding protecting user privacy and security.

Epic Games announced the Games Store to come into mobile devices at GDC 2024. It is also in the zone to fall under the rules of Apple if not countered as Apple regulates the in-app purchases by any available app in its App Store.

The announcement came from Steve Allison, the Epic Games Store General Manager. No specific date was confirmed regarding when the store will be live on these platforms.

The Epic Games Store will feature a fair and open distribution in the developer’s revenue share

This will be a complete game-focused multiplatform store and will work across Android, iOS, PC, and Mac, anchored by the player’s Epic account. So, the store will serve everything in one place under the same roof. The potential of this will be huge as players can just go multidimensional by this store, backing them in each title they’re into irrespective of the device they hold.

Apart from this, Epic will also release new mobile-specific self-publishing tools. The fees will follow similar terms for EGS on mobile devices as developers will get 88% of the total revenue while in the App Store and Google Play Store, it is 70%. Developers benefit more here as the in-app purchases using gamers’ payment service provider will lead to a 100% return in revenue for all the transactions.

The fight with Apple and Google continues and Epic will keep fighting

The long battle of Epic against Apple and Google will now take a new turn as the store will solely manage its IPs. Pointing to the Play Store and the App Store, Steve said that the company has “tirelessly been fighting” the gatekeepers of the mobile platform to allow for a more fair, and open distribution. As the battle is not over yet, the next phase will just begin as the Epic Games Store will come to the mobile platforms.

An agitated situation has been going on for Epic against Apple since the start of 2024, rooted back long before. In January, the popular battle royale title Fortnite was confirmed to return on iOS in Europe through the Epic Games Store. Later in the first week of March, the comeback went off track as Apple terminated Epic Games Developer Account. While the situation was often heating, the latest announcement from Epic Games comes in hot.

As the audience of Epic Games continues to grow, the need for an independent application to manage the players’ accounts was never this important. Epic has over 270M+ PC accounts with monthly active users of 75M+ who spent over $950M. It will be interesting to watch the aftermath of the release of the Epic Games Store on Android and iOS.

Epic sees Apple’s action as a DMA violation, while Apple cites past mistrust with Epic

Just when we thought that the Epic vs Apple battle was done and dusted, Apple came up with yet another decision that might have sparked another legal battle. Epic Games took to their official website that their account had been terminated, although Apple had approved their developer account a few months ago.

This unexpected termination hinders Epic’s ability to develop the Epic Games Store for iOS and launch Fortnite. This move is seen as a violation of the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which requires Apple to allow third-party app stores. Epic Games argues that Apple’s actions undermine competition and discourage developers from utilizing third-party app stores, which now I feel like there might be some truth to it.

Now, Apple has its own reasons to give. In the email threads shared by Epic, we can see that Apple pointed out Epic’s public criticism of their proposed DMA compliance plan as a factor in terminating the developer account. Additionally, Apple cited instances where Epic had previously “denigrated” their developer terms and portrayed Epic as historically untrustworthy.

Speaking of the long-lasting battle, in August 2020 when the game was removed from the App Store and Google Play Store after the violation of a direct payments policy and was blacklisted for five years. Fortnite did return to iOS devices in 2022 through Nvidia GeForce Now. Thanks to the Digital Markets Act aimed at loosening store dominance and allowing alternative app stores, Tim Sweeney mentioned Fortnite coming to iOS in 2024 which was officially confirmed earlier this year.

The European Commission has probed Apple over unexpected termination

Well, it seems as if Apple can’t be expecting any time to relax, with the European Commission now investigating its decision to remove Fortnite-maker Epic Games from the App Store. Well, I’m not sure why would Apple take such a risk, especially in light of Apple being fined $1.9 billion earlier in the week for abusing its dominant position and not complying with EU App Store Rules.

The commission has asked Apple for further explanations regarding its termination of Epic Games’ developer account, which prevents the company from offering titles to Apple users or launching a competing app store on iOS in Europe the commission is also assessing whether Apple’s actions violate other EU laws.

If you ask me, the situation has taken a turn for the worse, and it’s the fans who are feeling the brunt of it. Players on iOS who were waiting for the game’s return will have to wait more or else try the alternative route, whereas Epic’s battle to stop the iOS monopoly will last longer.

Apple backtracks as Fortnite return is still on

Just within two days, Apple took an unexpected U-turn and changed its decision and allowed Epic Games to create its app store in Europe. With this, Epic Games can now use its Apple Developer Account again and can bring back Fortnite to iOS devices in Europe. It looks like Apple didn’t want to bear more heat from the EU and simply decided to let go of its sour relationship with Epic Games.

You can hire a total of eight NPC characters in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1. Here’s where I’ve been able to find them exactly on the map so that you can hire whoever according to your choice.

• Steelsight: In Rebel’s Roost where you can find this NPC standing on the balcony of a building.
• Contract Giller: This NPC can be found on the docks which can be found north of Classy Courts.
• Solid Snake: Can be found on an island which is located north of Lavish Lair.
• Mecha Team Shadow: This one can be found southeast of Ritzy Riviera at a train station known as Riviera Station.
• Dara: Can be found at a location east of Fencing Fields and northwest of Hazy Hillside known as Lil’Villa.
• Metal Mouth: This NPC can be found at the cemetery which is located south of Classy Courts.
• Sun Tan Specialist: This can be found at the beach located southwest of Pleasant Plaza.
• Snow Striker: This last NPC can be found at the base camp of the mountain which is located south of Grand Glacier.

How to hire NPC characters in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1

There are a lot of NPC characters available in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 but I’ve found out that not all of them can be hired. The ones mentioned above are the only ones that you’ll be able to hire, so if that’s your only goal you can head over to those locations directly to save your time.

All you need to do is head over to an NPC and interact with them. On the interaction wheel, you’ll be able to see the shadow of the NPC with a plus sign beside the shadow. Click on this option and you’ll hire the particular NPC successfully.

Where and How to find Master Splinter in Fortnite

As a part of the v28.20 update, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise was made a part of Fortnite. Master Splinter has been made available in the shop as a part of the update and you can buy him for 1500 V-Bucks along with his staff too for 800 V-Bucks. Apart from this, Master Splinter has also been added to the game as an NPC whom you can interact with.

You’ll be able to find the location of the Master Splinter NPC in Fortnite as a part of the TMNT Collab by heading west of Fencing Fields. Here you’ll need to find a sewer manhole with green fumes coming out of it near the Ship It! Station building. If you enter this manhole you’ll be teleported to the Underground HQ area.

How to interact with Master Splinter in Fortnite

When you reach the Underground HQ, you’ll need to head over to the room near Vengeance Jones roams around. You’ll find Master Splinter in this room but won’t be able to purchase any weapons from him. You can get the Patch Up service from Master Splinter along with the Pizza Party item which will grant you 5 HP and 30 Shield per slice and has a total of eight slices.

The Pizza Party item has been unvaulted specifically for the Cowabunga event which is going on right now. Every item mentioned here can be bought from Master Splinter in exchange for 100 Gold Bars in Fortnite.
