Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) creators KRAFTON has officially announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat Government and TransStadia Technologies Pvt. Ltd. aimed towards boosting the Indian Esports and the Gaming Ecosystem.
KRAFTON has been consistently putting in efforts to improving Indian gaming
This isn’t the first time KRAFTON has put in efforts to make Indian gaming grow. Ever since the return of BGMI in India last year, KRAFTON has put in efforts from their end to boost gaming in the country, such as a dedicated esports channel, alongside announcing the India Gaming Incubator in October last year. This also includes releasing several games, be it Garuda Saga, Archery King, and signing the publishing contract for India release of Cookie Run titles with Devsisters.
Sean Hyunil Sohn, CEO, KRAFTON India, expressed delight at the partnership and further added: “By combining Gujarat’s vibrant growth environment and our expertise in game development and esports, we are set to create unparalleled opportunities for talent development, infrastructure enhancement, and community engagement. We firmly believe that this collaboration will have a profound and positive impact, fostering innovation, and inspiring a new generation of gamers and developers.”
Sh. Harsh Sanghavi, Hon’ble Minister for Home, Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities, Government of Gujarat expressed excitement for the collaboration, highlighting how it matches the state’s goals for digital and economic progress. He stated: “Government of Gujarat will benefit from this collaboration with KRAFTON as it will undoubtedly catalyze our efforts to transform Gujarat into an indigenous and interactive hub for e-sports. We look forward to the positive impact this partnership will have on our youth and the broader e-sports gaming community.”
It is important to note that KRAFTON has already invested $160 million in Indian startups since 2021 and plans to invest an additional $150 million over the next 2-3 years. With this, we can see that the plans of KRAFTON in India aren’t stopping and are looking to strengthen its ties with the country and its players.
