The post MARVEL Super War, the MOBA title from NetEase to shut down on June 27, 2024 appeared first on GamingonPhone.
]]>MARVEL Super War is a free-to-play 3D, third-person MOBA game by Marvel and NetEase Games, launched on December 19, 2019. Players engage in 5v5 battles with superheroes and Villains from the Marvel Universe, featuring characters like Iron Man, Thor, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, and Deadpool. The game emphasized fair combat with no pay-to-win elements and balanced gameplay.
Coming to the reason for the end of service, the makers mentioned in their official announcement post that due to adjustments in their game development and operation strategies, they had to make this difficult decision to shut down the MARVEL Super War. As I previously mentioned, the game’s service will conclude on June 27, 2024, and this process is already underway.
Starting April 18, 2024, MARVEL Super War was no longer available for download on any official App Stores, and in-game purchases and new user registrations were suspended. The game servers will officially close on July 18, 2024. After this date, all account data and character information will be deleted.
As a way of showing appreciation for players’ support, NetEase has unlocked all heroes and skins for all game modes except ranked mode. Players are invited to enjoy the game until the very end. Well, it is sad that a game with a popular IP to back it had to exit early, but here’s hoping we get an even better game in the future as a replacement.

]]>The massive layoffs will not only affect Alpha Dog Games but three other studios as well. According to the layoff news, Arkane Austin, Alpha Dog Games, Roundhouse Games, and Tango Gameworks will close their operations. The game, Mighty Doom was adored for its gore action and the Slayer character to progress through various levels in a roguelike play style. It had only been available for a year after years of soft launch.
The developers have stopped the in-game purchases in the game and have also allowed the players to claim refunds on the purchases already made. If you made a purchase, make sure to follow the instructions in the tweet provided above to claim the refund for the purchase. Not much is known about how many employees were affected by these massive layoffs, however, it surely does show the current trend of layoffs in the gaming world.
Mighty Doom will shut down its operations on August 7th, 2024. As of now, no official statement has been released by Microsoft stating the actual reasons. However, it could be because of the management of resources or making way for other hit titles from the inventory in the future.
Mighty Doom was based on the famous Doom franchise and could have been a decent title if continued operations. Hence it is sad to see the game closing its operations so soon after being released, the closure of the studio does depict the impending layoffs that the gaming industry faces as of now.

]]>The post Rovio’s Moomin: Puzzle & Design announces end of development, servers to shut down on July 8, 2024 appeared first on GamingonPhone.
]]>Rovio capitalized on the popularity of Moomin, which features white characters resembling hippos, to create a title based on the beloved figure. In the games, players awaken Moomin valley from its winter slumber by solving puzzles and decorating with blooming flowers and bushes. Players encounter classic Moomin characters in a unique storyline.
They solve tap-to-match puzzles of varying difficulty levels, earning power boosters for clearing matches. Updates introduced day-night scenes, 6 story chapters, 180 levels, a Task journal, and a Seashell hunt mode. With each level cleared, they could unlock new features and progress through the enchanting world of Moomin Valley.
However, as much as the game sounds interesting, the makers announced the end of development. The developers confirmed the discontinuation of Moomin: Puzzle & Design due to falling short of their quality standards, also citing that the game “isn’t where they want it to be”. No news since the soft launch was also an indication of the game’s development not going anywhere.
With the Moomin: Puzzle & Design shut down announcement, the app has disabled all in-app purchases, and this will make Update 3.1.2 the final update to the game. They’ll have servers running until July 8th, 2024, so you can utilize this chance to play the game.

]]>XCOM Legends, developed by Iridium Starfish and published by 2K Games, made its debut through a soft launch in July 2021 for Android and later in March 2022 for iOS. In XCOM Legends, players would take command of XCOM, Earth’s final hope against the oppressive alien regime known as ADVENT. Humanity’s fate hangs by a thread as the aliens unleash a new, terrifying threat.
Speaking about the gameplay, players could engage in thrilling combat using a Gacha mechanic to summon hero units from salvaged alien technology. With 51 unique heroes to collect, players can spend resources to upgrade and fuse duplicate heroes. The game also offered PvE and PvP adventures that included campaigns and bounty raids.
For a franchise that has given so many memorable titles such as XCOM, XCOM Enemy Within, and XCOM 2, XCOM Legends wasn’t a title that fulfilled the expectations. The initial reactions weren’t good, and the only reason players enjoyed it was the XCOM franchise’s popularity.
From what we know, the announcement of XCOM Legends shutting down came as in-game news last month but no official announcement on social media platforms is out yet. The game’s store pages are also inactive, so this game surely is done for good.

]]>The post Clash Mini discontinues development, server shut down to begin in late April 2024 appeared first on GamingonPhone.
]]>Clash Mini was set in the Clash Universe which was announced along with two other titles namely Clash Quest and Clash Heroes. The game featured elements called miniatures or minis inspired by characters who are already a part of the Clash Universe, in popular titles Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. We get to be involved in a real-time auto battler by strategically placing our minis on the playing board.
I tried my hands on the game during the UK regional launch and it was fun, and enjoyed it, as did many other players, the development team held a contrasting view. Despite the improvements to the game and community involvement, the game did not fully meet the quality standards of the team, as confirmed by them, and ultimately had to suffer a demise even without getting a full-fledged global release.
However, I have some good news to share. Despite ending Clash Mini the team acknowledges its potential and has decided to commit to bringing the Clash Mini experience to Clash Royale to reach its fullest potential. Well, not sure how they will do it, but hopefully it doesn’t spoil the Clash Royale experience.
For now, if you have purchased any in-game items from Clash Mini, you can transfer those to any live Supercell game before the shut down of the server.
Well, Clash Mini becomes the latest to join the list of games Supercell has shut down or discontinued its development, including Rush Wars, Everdale, Clash Quest, Boom Beach Frontlines, and Floodrush, which was within three months of its announcement. Well, what is more upsetting is that Clash Mini was one of the three games in the pipeline for a 2024 launch, as confirmed by CEO Ilkka Paananen.
Now we do have Squad Busters and monster-hunting action RPG mo.co in the development stage, and what is scaring me is that news regarding them being released has been due for a long time now, although the updates on the latter are still being shared. But if you were to ask my opinion, these have higher potential than the rest of them, and hopefully, they don’t meet the same fate as the rest.

]]>Speaking about the game, Volzerk: Monsters and Lands Unknown, or in short Volzerk is a crossbreeding action RPG set on the island of Fort Lemuria, where Fina embarks on a quest to discover legendary monsters. With the disappearance of the island guardian, Volzerk, ten years ago, Fina joins the Research Commission to protect the endangered monsters.
Here, we can mix and match monsters with different riders for epic battles, utilizing various weapon types and character switches strategically. The selling point of this title was the monster breeding system, where you could also crossbreed monsters to inherit abilities and customize your play style. Although last year in January the game was made available in Japan, it did launch globally a couple of months later.
Well, with the shutdown announcement, the game lasted only for a year. For now, the reason behind the EOS has not been notified yet. The shutdown timeline will be as follows.
Date | Event |
---|---|
16/2/2024 | Scout will be stopped and no more characters can be bought, although already-owned characters can be used till EOS |
29/2/2024 | Suspension of new user registrations into the game |
29/3/2024 | End of service for Volzerk |
In my opinion, the game has good graphics and cutscenes, and I see it was released on Steam too, although it wasn’t well received. In the Google Play Store, the reviews look decent and 500K+ downloads don’t seem bad, but if the revenue was less than the desired to get a profit figure then I can understand the thought process behind the shutdown. This is a sad state, for sure.

]]>Time Defender is a tower defense RPG where players assemble teams and strategies to fend off evil forces. With 70 heroes designed in Vespa’s 3X style, the game offers an immersive experience. Heroes perform diverse tasks to safeguard the world. Players can customize their heroes’ abilities and combinations to enhance their strategic prowess.
The game launched regionally on April 20, 2022, and to be fair, it never picked up pace, and now is getting an EOS. The reason for the shutdown of Time Defenders is to allow Vespa to focus on providing improved services and experiences while tackling new challenges.
Despite the difficulty in making this decision, the company believes it is necessary to ensure better service provision and to concentrate on future endeavors. Below is the service termination procedure and schedule for Time Defenders.
Event | Date |
---|---|
Service Termination Date | March 29, 2024 |
Suspension of In-App Purchases and Downloads | March 4, 2024 |
Refund Policy and Implementation | Sequentially from March 5, 2024 |
Official Community Closure and CS Response Termination | April 4, 2024 |
Well, reading the community reactions, I see most of them are happy the game’s getting removed. Some expressed surprise that the game lasted as long as it did, while others criticized its development and management, which was a huge problem since its launch. Overall, the game wasn’t good enough to last long, and the developers finally realized the same.

]]>Speaking of the two games, I have been a fan of both since I follow both sports passionately. Talking EA Sports MLB Tap Sports Baseball, I did try out the 2023 edition and was quite impressed. However, it’s worth noting that this wasn’t originally an EA title. Formerly a popular Glu Mobile title, since the announcement of Glu Mobile’s $2.4 billion acquisition deal to join the EA family, EA had taken over the publishing of the baseball hit.
Meanwhile, Formula 1 fans like myself found joy in F1 Mobile Racing developed by Codemasters with Eden Games as a development partner, which, while popular, didn’t quite match the experience we get on PC or console. This game had been stale for years, and hence the cutting down doesn’t come as a surprise.
In a statement given to GI biz, the gaming company stated: “This is a difficult decision that we know impacts passionate communities who have played and enjoyed these games, and we do not take it lightly. We extend our thanks and appreciation to the MLB, MLBPA, OneTeam Partners, and MLBPAA for their close and valuable partnership.”
Regarding the closure of the games, both MLB Tap Sports Baseball and F1 Mobile Racing will sunset on May 24, 2024. As of now, they will no longer offer in-app purchases and have been removed from app stores. For me, it’s unfortunate that the shutdown of these games has resulted in job cuts. However, let’s remain hopeful that those affected will soon find new opportunities within their beloved niche.

]]>Released in 2021, BLEACH: Eternal Soul takes players to delve into the world of the popular anime series. This official mobile adaptation faithfully retells the anime’s storyline, inviting fans to experience iconic moments alongside over 100 classic characters. From Ichigo Kurosaki’s initial encounter with Rukia Kuchiki to his evolution as a Substitute Soul Reaper, you get to experience it all.
While the concept of assembling a team of beloved characters and engaging in intense tactical combat sounds appealing, I see that even after two-plus years, the game has not gained significant traction despite being based on a popular IP like BLEACH. Despite the strong backing from the franchise, it seems that the gameplay experience has not resonated strongly with players, and critically not received well either.
Well, this finally caught up to the makers as citing “adjustments in game development” they have announced closure. For the process, registration and downloads will close on April 1st, top-up channels will close at the same time, and gaming services will conclude on April 29th. Until then, you can still use any remaining in-game items until the game officially ends. Once gaming services cease, you will no longer be able to access or play the game.
Well, if you are among the players of the game, don’t worry. The Bleach franchise has some interesting picks on offer in the mobile space itself. We have Bleach: Brave Souls, which is one of the best Anime games available on mobile alongside Bleach Mobile 3D. There is also an upcoming sword-fighting action RPG Bleach: Soul Resonance hitting this 2024, so that might help you quench your thirst.

]]>Now, allow me to explain to dispel any confusion regarding Takt op. Symphony’s end of service. The management team stated that the decision was the result of changes to their business strategy. As much as I would like to reassure you, no additional information about the developers’ plans has been announced.
Since its release, Takt op. Symphony has attracted a dedicated community of players known as Conductors who have passionately contributed to its growth and development. The game, in which players guide musical heroines known as Musicarts into battles against monstrous foes known as D2s, has received a lot of love and support from its fans.
The announcement is undoubtedly disappointing for me, and I’m sure it is for you as well, but you can continue to play the game using your existing accounts and any purchased in-game currency until the official shutdown date. The operations team thanked everyone for their continued support and sincerely apologized for the decision.
As the final days of the Takt op. Symphony approach, the team will continue to deliver a high-quality gaming experience and excellent customer service until the end. While I am sad to say that the closure signals a sad phase for many devoted fans as we can see in the community reactions shared, the memories and connections developed within the game’s community will undoubtedly endure.
