Genshin Impact: Different types of Currency and how to use them

Lots of uses for different types of currency!

Genshin impact is an MMORPG that is set in the wide world of Teyvat, developed by Chinese developer miHoYo. Like every other game, the medium used to exchange resources and materials is collectively known as currency. Genshin Impact offers a wide variety of currency, including resin of different types. With this guide, we will understand what each currency in the game does.

Different types of Currency in Genshin Impact

1. Mora

It is a common currency used all over Teyvat. Obtained by completing quests, opening chests, defeating enemies, bounties, and various types of other means. Mora is used for upgrading the characters, leveling up talents, artifact up-gradation, crafting, buying food and recipes, and much more things. As said, it is a catalyst of all sorts.

2. Primogems

Primogems are one of the special currencies in the game. It can be obtained by completing various quests, daily commissions, achievements, Adventurer’s Handbook, unlocking teleport points, opening chests, participating in various events, and upgrading the statue of seven. It can be used to buy Intertwined and Acquaint fates. The game and the players usually revolve around primogems.

3. Intertwined Fate

It is a stone-shaped currency that can only be bought with primogems. Intertwined Fates are used to pull/wish/summon a character from their limited-time event banner. Players usually save their primogems to buy intertwined fates from the shop.

4. Acquaint Fate

These are similar to Intertwined Fate. Acquaint Fate can be obtained with primogems, character ascension, and battle pass rewards. But, Acquaint Fates can only be used to summon/wish/pull in the Wanderlust Invocation banner, which is otherwise, known as the standard banner. These are used to wish for characters and weapons which are always available and are not bounded by a certain time frame.

5. Original Resin

Original Resin is a type of currency, which is utilized to take rewards from petrified trees, artifacts, and talent domain, (trouce) boss domain, and ley line blossom. One original resin replenishes every eight minutes capped at 160. It is advised for new players to use their original resin effectively. It is not capped for prolonged periods, as they replenish every day.

6. Fragile Resin

Fragile Resin can be obtained through battle pass rewards, adventure rank rewards, and players’ birthdays. It is used to replenish the original resin by 60. It is generally advised for players to not spend their fragile resin, before reaching adventure rank 45.

7. Condensed Resin

These are obtained by crafting crystal core, which is obtained by catching crystal flies, with 40 original resin. Condensed resin is utilized in petrified trees and Ley Lines’ blossom for doubling the rewards. As said, players cannot hold more than 5 at a time.

8. Transient Resin

It is a special type of resin, which can be traded with 1200 Realm currency once per week from “Tubby” in the Serenitea Pot. Transient resin is used to replenish the original resin by 60. Transient resin dissipates after some time so it’s best to use them within the given time frame.

9. Masterless Stardust

It is a common voucher obtained in the process of wishing/summoning for every 3-star item, which is what players get. Masterless Stardust is used to purchase various items from the shop including intertwined and acquaint fates. 15 masterless stardust are obtained with every three-star item in the wishing process.

10. Masterless Starglitter

It is a superior voucher obtained from summoning a 4-star or 5-star weapon or getting a constellation/duplicate/copy of a character that the player already has. Masterless Starglitter is also used to exchange various items, as well as exclusive 4-star weapons, which are Royal and Blackcliff, which cannot be summoned through the wishing process.

11. Realm currency

This currency is only usable in the Serenitea Pot. Serenitea pot is obtained after the player reaches Adventurer Rank 26 and completes a world quest named A teapot to call home. Realm currency can be used to exchange various items from the realm depot such as hero’s wit, enhancement ores, transient resin, mora, and blueprints.

12. Elemental sigils

It is a clay-like badge-styled insignia, which is different for different regions.

  • Liyue: Geo sigil
  • Inazuma: Electro sigil
  • Mondstadt: Anemo sigil

These sigils can be used to trade for various items in the souvenir shops in Liyue and Mondstadt and offer electro sigils to the Sakura Tree in Inazuma to level it up.

13. Genesis Crystal

  • One genesis crystal = One primogem

This currency is obtainable through real money only. Players can directly purchase Genesis crystals from the shop or get them in certain bundle packs. Genesis crystals are used for either purchasing character skins or by converting these to primogems.
