G-STAR 2023 gears up to be one of the biggest video game trade and consumer events in Korea. The event is set to unfold at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center in Korea from November 16 to November 19, 2023. What we are excited about is without a doubt the mobile gaming announcements that are coming this G-STAR 2023, which we will cover every announcement in the event for the mobile games that are showcased.
List of Mobile Games showcased in G-STAR 2023
This event promises to unveil some of the most eagerly awaited titles, spanning from expansive Open World RPGs on consoles to cutting-edge Sci-Fi MMORPGs, with a slew of premieres making their debut before the public eye.
The event will also include the BTC Exhibition, the BTB Exhibition, the Sub Culture Festival, the G-STAR Indie Awards, and a whole lot more. Let us look into the mobile gaming announcement from the event as to what games are making their way to unveil themselves in G-STAR 2023.
RF Online Next
Developed by Netmarble, thanks to Unreal Engine 5, breathes new life into the popular IP RF Online with the RF Project. The iconic IP made its debut in 2004 and has been active for over two decades. This iteration, RF Online Next, will be a Futuristic MMORPG that immerses players in a sci-fi universe, offering large-scale realm vs. realm battles across three nations. The game will be coming to Mobile and PC.
DEMIS RE:BORN
DEMI RE:BORN, a collectible RPG for mobile devices, is in development based on Netmarble F&C’s original IP, Grand Cross. Players, known as Connectors, embark on adventures to prevent chaos and the world’s destruction. The game features Transcendents, modernized versions of mythological and historical heroes, adding depth to the gameplay. The game is exclusive to the mobile platform.
The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin
In the vast world of The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, players delve into open-world exploration across various locations on the continent, seeking to collect coveted Star Fragments. This RPG allows players to curate their unique combat style by assembling a roster of heroes from The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Knights of the Apocalypse manga and anime series. We did get a glimpse of its wonderful gameplay at the Game Developers Conference 2023 as well. The game is coming to Mobile, PC, and Consoles.
BATTLE CRUSH
We might already know about BATTLE CRUSH, the new action title from NCSOFT given its announcement in February 2023. Still, in the closed beta phase, more of the game was unveiled at the event, with the official trailer giving a glimpse to the fans what to expect from the game. This five-minute video was in-depth about the gameplay mechanics, the graphics, features, and more. The game is coming to Mobile and PC.
Project BSS
Part of the five games that were announced by NCSOFT in 2022, Project BSS, their upcoming title for PC and mobile, stood out the most. What caught my attention was how they’re tapping into the Blade & Soul universe for this intriguing RPG experience. Seems to be a tactical setup with five heroes, the graphics are very artistic and it no doubt can be a go-to title for the fans of the genre when it launches.
Project G
NCSOFT’s blistering list continues with the unveiling of Project G. This game looks very grand, where you get to lead a diverse cast of characters in epic group battles, adding an extra thrill with the command operation system. Combined with the enjoyable aspects of simulation and strategy gameplay, the game’s world is filled with rich content, ensuring a joyful experience as players advance and grow, thus making the game worth the wait.
PUZZUP AMITOI
One more NCSOFT game gave us a glimpse, this time an easy-to-enjoy match-3 game in PUZZUP AMITOI. The game offers some unique modes with charming characters that keep you engaged, helping you provide diverse puzzle-solving experiences. The inclusion of a clan system adds content like territorial battles, elevating the overall enjoyment of puzzle-solving.
Lost Ark Mobile
After a flurry of NCSOFT games, it is time for Smilegate to shine. Lost Ark Mobile, which was already anticipated to be showcased at the event, unveiled its VR demo for the fans. This groundbreaking MMORPG utilizes Unreal Engine 5 and is based on the intellectual property rights of the original Lost Ark game.
Dark and Darker Mobile
KRAFTON showcased the mobile version of the highly popular title, Dark and Darker for the first time since its announcement of acquiring the exclusive license to create this mobile masterpiece. With the launch schedule in 2024, Dark and Darker Mobile aims to mix dungeon crawlers, the depth of RPGs, and battle royale survival elements to recreate an amazing extraction-based gameplay that will have the core experience of the original game.
Illang
G STAR 2023 revealed a cool upcoming game called Illang. I’m not sure if its name is derived from the Korean movie but the premise is very different. Join up to 20 players to catch the mischievous Illang in Koji Village. But watch out, your friends might be hiding some secrets too! The gameplay trailer looked very promising and surely will involve a lot of fun too. Upon launch, it will be a free-to-play game for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, PC, iOS, and Android.
BREAKERS: Unlock the World
Announced this September 2023, BREAKERS: Unlock the World, the upcoming RPG title by VIC GAME STUDIOS was also among the ones that got showcased in the mega event. Developed as a cross-platform mobile and PC game, it was up for demonstration for the players to try out. The feedback has been positive, raising expectations for another fantastic RPG title entering the scene.
Crystal of Atlan
Currently, in its China launch, in Crystal of Atlan, players embark on an epic journey in a large-scale box-field action RPG with a magic punk theme. As a member of the Adventurers Association, explore Atlan to uncover the secrets of the crystal core, the world’s energy source. We are not sure when this will launch on a global scale, but surely this will be a visual treat to enjoy with fantastic combat mechanics on offer.
Tempest: Tower of Probatio
New Normal Soft recently unveiled Tempest, a collectible card game slated for release in the first half of next year. As part of the G-STAR 2023, they dropped a trial version available on Google Play from the 16th to the 19th. It features strategic gameplay with over 300 unique cards inspired by myths, fairy tales, and legends, players can craft diverse decks tailored to their own strategies.
Wuthering Waves
Wuthering Waves developed by Kuro Games also was among the showcased games, where the booth set in the event gave the visitors the opportunity to witness the special skills and unique moves of the nine characters, all accompanied by visually appealing graphics. Speaking of the game, Wuthering Waves promises an action-packed RPG experience for the fans to enjoy upon its launch.
