Evangelion Battlefields, a stylized action RPG title from LIONA, is scheduled for a shut down on July 27 this year. The end-of-service announcement from the makers came after the game has been on the mobile platform for over three years now.
The developers have cited content dissatisfaction as the cause for shut down
Initially launched on April 2, 2020, the game was inspired by the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series. The primary gameplay in Evangelion Battlefields is the same across all modes; the player is placed in a circular arena with a team of two pilots and two Evas, the central character. They must choose weapons from their Eva’s equipped armament, with three weapons available at any given time.
The game was popular in Japan and attracted plenty of players. However, difficulties with the game’s presentation as well as its global reach were always a source of concern. However, these concerns had to be addressed at some point in the game, which they couldn’t, and now the official shut down announcement for Evangelion Battlefields has been made.
In their announcement post, the developers said that they considered this seriously. However, taking into account the recent content, game characteristics, and the profitability of the game in the future, it was found to be difficult to continue, hence the decision. The Final Season 20 is now live and will run till the termination.
Gem sales have already terminated as of May 26, and the Battle Pass is likewise no longer accessible. On the 27th of July, the game will be officially removed from App Stores across all platforms. The game will also accept refunds from August 1 if players submit a refund request between August 1 and September 30.
