Honkai Star Rail has been smashing all records since its debut and it is looking like it isn’t stopping anytime soon. As per the data from AppMagic, a service for quick and effective mobile market research, the RPG from HoYoverse has amassed a staggering $42 million in mobile revenue at the end of the first week of run since its initial launch, which comes across as a huge boost to the popularity of Honkai Star Rail.
Honkai Star Rail is on a roll and shows no signs of slowing down
Honkai: Star Rail is a space fantasy role-playing game that takes players on a journey through vast, undiscovered worlds. The plot of the game’s space science fiction includes myths and tales as well as fantasy elements. These themes, combined with the simple turn-based combat system, large locations with maze exploration, and fascinating storylines keep the player engaged.
As per the data from AppMagic, the total revenue generated is close to $42 million on mobile devices, which is largely by the contributions from China and Japan contributing roughly 50% of the overall revenue. The graphical representation of the revenue also indicates that the RPG collected nearly $6 million on the day of release, and maintained a consistent run throughout the first week. However, the revenue from other platforms (PC) is not reflected here.
However, there is a long way to go for Honkai to break its sister title Genshin Impact’s records, as the latter reached $245 million as its first-month revenue, breaking a lot of records in the progress. Although, based on consistency, Honkai Star Rail can be expected to come close to these figures, the game will need to have a stellar May month to outperform Genshin.
In a recent amusing anecdote, the popularity of Honkai: Star Rail was so overwhelming that it misled the Chinese Anti-Fraud Center to mark it as a scam. It’s welcoming to see a mobile game getting attention, and hopefully, this will motivate others in the industry to produce better quality in the future.
