Huge news for mobile gamers around the world as Riot Games have officially confirmed their plans to launch a mobile version of the super hit PC FPS title Valorant, putting an end to all the rumors. The confirmation was done during the Year One announcements as well as through press releases, confirmed by Liquipedia.
A roaring success for Valorant so far
Valorant first debuted in beta in April last year, with the full release following in June 2020. Despite being released at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, the game was a smash hit. It’s free-to-play nature as well as the general low spec nature of the game made it appealing to a wider variety of audiences, especially those on a budget and/or playing games on low-end hardware.
The game shared a similar likeness to the highly popular stalwart FPS title CS:GO which also made it appealing to FPS enthusiasts. As a matter of fact, Valorant is estimated to have double the monthly players on an average when compared to CS:GO. That being said, few analyzed that the release of Valorant also ended up boosting player base for CS:GO as well.
Valorant has also established itself as an important title in the esports scene around the globe, again despite releasing in the middle of the pandemic which is also highly impressive.
Valorant Mobile global release date
Speculation around a possible mobile release for Valorant has been around for months and so many felt it was only a matter of time before Riot Games themselves handed out an official announcement. It is unclear how much different the mobile version could be from the PC version and when will it release on mobile platform.
Games such as Fortnite and even more recently, Apex Legends, have shown that it is possible to retain most of the existing feel of the PC game on a handheld device so one can expect Valorant to follow the same especially as it is not as intensive.
