Tencent Games‘ game development studio TiMi Y3 (Tianmei Studio Group) has announced an exciting project titled Codename CrossFire 0 or in short, Codename CF0 for mobile. A gameplay trailer has also been unveiled which indicates a lot of action is coming our way pretty soon.
Codename CF0 will feature a 3D experience with 2D art
There is no doubt regarding the popularity of the Crossfire title, which is an online multiplayer FPS developed by Smilegate Entertainment. It was first released in South Korea in 2007 and has since gained massive popularity worldwide, attracting millions of players across the globe with a lifetime total of 1 billion users in 80 countries worldwide.
In China, Tencent used to be the publisher and it will take the helm on the mobile version too. As per reports, the game is built up thanks to the groundbreaking UE4 (Unreal Engine 4). On the first look provided, it is supposedly a 3D Shooter and the gameplay trailer represents a captivating 2D Art Style, so the mix of both would be an amazing experience for sure.
For those who remember, last year Tencent made some organizational adjustments, adding four new game Studios with Tianmei J3 Studio Group divided into Y1, Y2, and Y3 studios, to make things easier for releasing various genres of shooting games. Out of the three, the Tianmei Y3 Studio was to be responsible for the development of CrossFire mobile and newly released IP games.
The recruitment for different positions for CF0’s development has started
The recruitment for various positions in CF0’s development and marketing has commenced and is currently live on the official website. Given the game has just been announced there might be a lot of chipping in needed in terms of refinement and optimization before launch, and hence this is the right way to go. As of now, the game announcement is specific to the China version, and the website is available only in Chinese. However, it is highly likely that CF0 will also be released globally after the release in China, considering the immense popularity of the CrossFire franchise. The developers wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to offer the title of a popular IP to a wider international audience.
