Savage Game Studios was founded back in 2020 by Michail Katkoff, Nadjam Adijr, and Michael McManus. The founders of the company have previous working experience with various famous game developers, including Zynga, Supercell, Rovio, Insomniac, and a few more. The trio collectively brings tons of mobile game development experience to the deck.
Savage Game Studios will manage the new PlayStation Studios Mobile Division
According to the announcement, the new PlayStation Studios Mobile Division is already working on a new unannounced AAA shooter game. Although no specific information was given by the developers about the upcoming game. Savage Game Studios will join the newly launched PlayStation Studios Mobile Division, which will operate independently from console development.
The studio will focus more on innovative, on-the-go experiences based on new and existing PlayStation IPs. The operations of the newly formed studio will be run by Savage Game Studios’ current management team. The terms and financial value of the acquisition have still not been made public due to contractual agreements.
Sony has recently acquired some major gaming studios
The recent studio acquisition by Sony comes after the company’s acquisition of Bungie, the company that created famous games like Halo and Destiny. Sony has also made big studio acquisitions over the last few years. The company previously acquired Nixxes Software to help Sony port its game to PC. The most recent acquisition of Savage Game Studios by Sony is undoubtedly going to be a big step to expand its presence in the mobile gaming industry.
